Here’s a quick candle-making tutorial with specific temperatures if you want to try DIY candles at home. 😊 1. Melt the Wax Use a double boiler or a wax melter. Heat the wax to 185°F (85°C)—this ensures proper melting and binding with fragrance. 2. Add Fragrance Oil Remove wax from heat and let it cool to 175-185°F (79-85°C) before adding fragrance oil. Stir slowly for 1-2 minutes to ensure even distribution. Typical fragrance load: 6-10% (e.g., for 1 lb of wax, use 1 oz of fragrance). 3. Prep Containers & Wicks While wax cools, secure wicks with wick stickers or hot glue. Use wick holders to keep them centered. 4. Pour the Wax Ideal pouring temp: 135-145°F (57-63°C) for most waxes. Pour slowly to reduce air bubbles. 5. Cure & Trim Let candles sit undisturbed at room temp for at least 24 hours (soy needs 1-2 weeks for best scent throw). Trim wicks to ¼ inch before lighting. Most importantly have fun! 💛 #candlemaking #candlemakingtips #candlemakingtutorial #howtomakecandles

10 Candle Tips I Swear By (That Took Me Years to Learn!) …but I’m sharing them so you don’t have to learn the hard way. 😅 Let’s be honest — candle making isn’t just wax and wicks. It’s science, art, patience… and a lot of trial and error. After years of testing, tweaking, and nearly giving up on some batches (looking at you, tunneling candles 😩), here are the lessons I live by: 1. Always test your wick with your exact jar + wax combo. What works for one doesn’t work for all. 2. Room temp matters. Don’t pour candles when it’s too cold or too hot — your tops will tell the story. 3. Fragrance load ≠ stronger scent. More isn’t always better — it can clog your wick or cause sweating. 4. Let them cure. I know it’s tempting, but wait at least 5–7 days before lighting. Patience pays off. 5. Double check your wick centering. Off-center = uneven burn. 6. Preheat your jars for smooth tops. Especially in cooler weather. 7. Write everything down. Every. Single. Test. Your future self will thank you. 8. Don’t chase trends — chase your brand. Stick to scents and styles that align with your values. 9. Trim wicks before shipping! Customers appreciate a clean, ready-to-burn candle. 10. Celebrate every win — even the small ones. That perfect scent throw? The first repeat order? They count. 💛 These tips changed the game for me — and they’ve helped shape every Lux & Co. candle you know and love. 👇 Drop your biggest candle-making lesson in the comments (or ask me anything you’re stuck on!) 6 common misconceptions about candle making:🕯️✨ 1️⃣ Any Wax Will Do: Not true! Each wax type (soy, paraffin, beeswax) has unique properties that affect the candle’s performance. Choose wisely for the best results! 🐝🌿 2️⃣ More Fragrance Oil = Stronger Scent: Wrong! Overloading fragrance can cause improper burning and even safety hazards. Stick to recommended ratios for a perfect scent throw.🫙 3️⃣ Wick Size Doesn’t Matter: It sure does! The right wick size ensures a clean, even burn. Too small, and you get tunneling; too big, and it’s a sooty mess! 🔥 4️⃣ You Don’t Need a Thermometer: Think again! Temperature control is crucial. Pouring at the wrong temp can lead to sinkholes, frosting, and weak fragrance throw.🌡️ 5️⃣ All Containers Are Suitable: Nope! Only use heat-resistant containers to avoid breakage and fire hazards. Safety first!⚠️ 6️⃣ Perfect Candles on the First Try: Rarely! Candle making is an art that requires practice and experimentation. Oof. There is so much testing when it comes to candle making.👩🏽🔬 📌 DON’T let these myths hold you back. The key is to embrace the learning process! Candle making is all about experimenting and creativity.😮💨💁🏽♀️ #switchcandles #candlemaking #candleshop #candles #handpouredcandles #toauto #candlesupplies #candlemakingtips #candlemaking101 #candlemaker #candlecommunity #candleco #candlebusiness

5 things you need to know before starting to make candles: 1. Not all wax is created equal — Some waxes burn dirty, hold fragrance poorly, or crack weirdly. Choosing the right wax makes all the difference in how your candle performs! 2. Wick size MATTERS — Too big and your candle becomes a bonfire. Too small and it tunnels. Testing different sizes is not optional if you want a clean, even burn. 3. Fragrance quality impacts everything — I learned quickly that not all oils are clean or safe. Choosing high-quality, non-toxic oils (free from parabens & phthalates) means a better experience with less headaches — literally. 4. Curing time is key — I used to pour and burn right away (oops). But candles need time to cure so the scent throws properly — patience pays off! 5. Running a business is more than making candles — Marketing, packaging, customer service, and accounting take just as much time as actually pouring wax. But it’s so worth it. 💛 #FreeIndeedCandles #CandleMakingTips #SmallBusinessJourney #HandpouredWithPurpose #ChristianBusiness #CleanBurnCandles #ecofriendlycandles

Candle making is more than just melting wax — it’s a balance of creativity, science, and patience. If you’re just getting started, these basics will help you avoid common mistakes and create better, safer candles: ✔️ Choose the right wax ✔️ Match the wick to the vessel ✔️ Measure by weight, not volume ✔️ Pay attention to pour temperature ✔️ Allow proper cure time ✨ Tip: Testing isn’t optional — it’s where consistency and quality are built. 📌 Candle making is an art and a science — and I don’t play about either. ❌ Using fragrance oils not tested for candle safety – If it’s not approved for candles, it’s not going in mine. Safety first, always. ❌ Skipping the cure time – Great scent throw takes patience. Rushing the process only leads to disappointment. ❌ Fragrance overload – More fragrance doesn’t mean stronger scent. There’s a perfect balance — and I stick to it. ❌ Ignoring burn tests – Every wick, every jar, every blend — tested until it burns just right. ❌ Pouring in cold rooms – Temperature matters. A cold pour room can ruin a good batch. ❌ Using jars not tested for heat resistance – A pretty jar isn’t worth the risk. I only use containers that are heat-safe and tested. ❌ Compromising quality to cut costs – I’ll always choose quality over shortcuts. My customers deserve the best. ❌ Using wax blends without doing the research – Every wax behaves differently. I study mine like a science project before it ever hits your hands. Follow for more

✨ DIY Flower Candle Tutorial ✨ For this candle, I used a wick made for 80mm jars (that’s about 3.15 inches wide) — my jars are 5cm high (≈2 inches) and 9cm wide (≈3.5 inches). I use 100% soy wax, and the pouring temperature is super important! 🌿 👉 Pour your wax at 131°F (55°C) to prevent frosting. 🔥 Always preheat your glass jars — I personally prefer using the oven instead of a heat gun for a more even result. 🌸 Don’t forget to preheat your silicone molds, too! Once poured, the wax flowers can be easily removed after about 2 hours. To add those golden details, I use a Candle Pen made specifically for decorating candles. For the labels, I use the NIIMBOT B1 printer with 50mm x 30mm (1.96” x 1.18”) heat-resistant thermal stickers. 🕯️How to make the perfect candle, step by step. The candle making process is simple, but so difficult to master as there are so many variables to achieving the perfect burn & scent throw, so here is a step by step guide with some useful tips that I’ve learned along the way. 🧼 Clean your jars, I use perfumers alcohol, it’s important not to skip this step as it helps the wicks stick more securely. I use a heat gun but you can also use stickers. 🌡️ Heat your wax to its stated melting point and then let it cool before adding your oils. Fragrance oils have higher flash points than essential oils & all oils have different flash points, it’s essential you add them at the right temperature. Too hot it will burn off the fragrance, too cool and the oils won’t bind to the wax molecules properly. So yes, if you mix more than one oil it becomes even more complicated!🥴 ⚖️ Weigh your oils in grams and never add more than 12% fragrance load. Adding more perfume won’t make your candles smell any stronger, it will just clog the wicks or become a fire hazard. I use between 8 and 12% depending on the oil. 🥄 Stir your oil into the wax for at least 3 minutes then pour at around 59 degrees. This varies depending on wax. Pour at a much higher temp if you’re doing melts as this wax cools much quicker than container wax. I always stir for 6 minutes. 🔐 Secure your wicks - I use @stiffwicks but you can also use the metal or wooden if you prefer, but make sure you stick them with something like blue tack as they can move when cooling down, leaving you with off centre wicks. 🕰️ Your candles will look set after just a few hours. But they haven’t properly cured, they need at least a week, ideally two for the fragrance molecules to fully disperse and bind with the wax. If you’re not getting a good scent throw then not waiting long enough for them to cure may be why. I always keep mine covered too, this locks in the scent, that evaporates over time which is why all our candles come with lids. ⚠️ I use @socialblueprints for my labels. You also need to have the correct warning labels on your candles by law. (CLPs) 🕯️Enjoy your candles !
