Mer de Glace in Chamonix, France, is the largest glacier in the country & the second largest in Europe. After a long hike from Aiguille Du Plan a few weeks ago, much of it covered in snow, I finally reached this remarkable sight and had it all to myself. The cable car was closed so I hiked back down to Chamonix from here. A great hike although definitely a bit ropey at times as I sunk into the snow up to my sternum on a few occasions on some steep sections with no footprints to follow......never a nice feeling when that happens 😂 I shall definitely return to Chamonix in future, it was absolutely fantastic and if you ever go, get up to Aiguille Du Midi on a clear day, it was simply incredible! #scottish #france #chamonix #hiking #glacier #merdeglace #aiguilledumidi #explore #travel #adventure Note: Montane Kit previously gifted in paid collaboration

A weekend in Chamonix 💙 🚗Zürich-Chamonix: 3 h 30 min by car (around 300 km one way) 🚠As we don’t ski, we bought a pedestrian pass for 2 days for all cable cars (113€) 🏔️View points to visit: Aiguille du Midi-breathtaking peak, offering panoramic views of Mont Blanc. Here on top there is a famous “Step into the Void”-a glass skywalk that lets visitors stand over a 1,000-meter drop for a thrilling experience. Waiting time for these pictures was 30 min 🤪 Montenvers Train Met de Glace-train to a beautiful view point and after the cable car ride to the glacier cave 😍 Brévent-Flégére-fantastic mountain views and there’s a popular restaurant Le Panoramic on top which we totally can’t recommend. 𝐉𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐃𝐈 - 45 ans Directeur adjoint de La Poste – Les Grassonets 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐱 𝐬'𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 ! 𝐄𝐧𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞́ 𝐚̀ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐱 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐢𝐬 𝐥’𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. Originaire de Chamonix, j’y ai grandi, notamment aux Pèlerins. Ce quartier populaire m’a transmis des valeurs fortes de solidarité, de respect et d’entraide. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐮𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐫. Après avoir quitté la vallée pour mes études, j’ai choisi d’y revenir par attachement à mon territoire. J’y ai fondé une grande famille, dans un cadre de vie privilégié. 𝐑𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐮-𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚̀ 𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞́𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬. Le football m’a appris à réunir des jeunes de tous horizons, à transmettre le respect et à montrer que chacun a sa place lorsqu’on partage des valeurs communes. 𝐋𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜. Directeur adjoint à La Poste, j’ai développé un sens aigu du service public, de la responsabilité collective et de la gestion humaine. 𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥’𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐫 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐱.
