Now open again for the summer season 💦 The @chaparksdept turned on the water steps at The Passage on May 1st (& the Coolidge Park water fountains are planning to open Memorial Day weekend 🙌🏼) 📍The Passage is located next to the @tennesseeaquarium (1 Broad St) or you can access from Riverfront Parkway ☀️ Open sunrise to sunset 💰 It’s FREE to visit 💦 No, it’s not slippery! 👍 Yes, it’s meant to be interactive ❌ NO PETS ALLOWED This is a great place to stop by when visiting downtown Chattanooga / the Tennessee Aquarium to honor Native American history in the area or if you need a spot to cool off with kids! 💧The Passage is more than just an interactive water fountain. It is the nation’s largest public art installation honoring the 7 clans of Cherokee history and culture. 📌 Yes, the city encourages use of this area to the public. There is also a shallow pool at the bottom that kids often splash in. 🖌️ Behind the art: The waterfall stairs are represented as a ‘weeping wall’ signifying the tears shed as the Cherokee were driven from their homes and removed on the Trail of Tears, which started at this site. The Trail of Tears refers to the journey which forced the removal of the Cherokee tribes from Ross’s Landing in Chattanooga to Oklahoma in 1838. Seven, 6-foot ceramic disks tell the story of the Cherokee Nation from hundreds of years of Native American habitation in the southeast, among other art. Artwork & stairs design by Cherokee Artists Gadugi Inc., a group of five Cherokee artists. This art was completed nearly 2 decades ago in 2005. ❤️ While it’s a beloved gathering space for public use, it’s also an important site of remembrance and education about this history. Save for your next trip or send to someone who would love this 🥰 #chattanooga #downtownchattanooga #chattanoogatn #tennesseeaquarium #thepassage

Alright, let’s go. This will be my 10th time racing Chattanooga, so here’s everything I know about this course. 1. The roads in Chattanooga are rough early. Don’t expect smooth pavement until you hit St. Elmo around mile 5. 2. There are two sets of railroad tracks in the first 3 miles. Respect them. They can end your race real quick if you hit them in aero or planted on the saddle. I always get light on the seat and lift a bit so the bike can move underneath me. 3. Because of that, make sure everything is locked down before the start. Tighten every bolt. Make sure your bottles are secure. Nothing loose. 4. Once you get into Georgia, you can really start rolling. Fast roads all the way until the rollers around miles 13 to 20. 5. Around miles 20 to 22 the pavement gets rough again. Stay aero, stay relaxed, and keep an eye out for bottles bouncing into the road. 6. Andrews. Know where it is. Around mile 25. It’s not terrible, but it wrecks people who hit it in the wrong gear. Be ready to spin for a minute. 7. The backside of the course is fast. Good pavement, mostly flat, slight downhill in spots. Free speed if you stay aero. 8. Then you hit Chickamauga and you’ll feel amazing. Flying. Legs full of confidence. Then you roll through town, make the slight left, and reality shows back up. This is the section where you need to actually love riding your bike. Curvy roads, false flats, not super fun. The pros will make it look easy. You probably won’t. Don’t panic. It’s only about two miles. 9. After that comes a long descent. Know how to descend. You can hit 40 mph here without much effort. 10. Then you make the right turn heading back toward Tennessee. This stretch is exactly why you bought a tri bike. Get tucked, stay steady, and let it eat. 11. Once you’re back in Tennessee, it’s more of what you saw heading out. St. Elmo slows things down a little. This is where I tell people to stop chasing the clock. Sit up when needed, eat, drink, and get ready. You still have a half marathon to run before you earn that medal and the non alcoholic beer. Good luck everyone. See you at the finish line, homies.

To the family looking to move to Tennessee but can’t decide between Nashville, Chattanooga, or Knoxville, I’d tell them this… If you’re relocating to Tennessee from Florida, New Jersey, California, or anywhere else looking for more space, better value, and a slower rhythm — the city you choose matters. ✨ Nashville brings the growth, the jobs, the concerts, and the buzz. But with that comes higher home prices, traffic, and a faster pace. ✨ Chattanooga is scenic and artsy. Mountain views, walkable downtown, strong outdoor culture, and a tight-knit feel. ✨ Knoxville? It’s the balance. Lower cost of living than Nashville. More land and true lake life living. Strong job markets (UT, Oak Ridge, medical). Top schools in Farragut & Hardin Valley. Four seasons with a sprinkle of snow. But here’s what families really fall in love with: 🏔 Endless hiking trails in the Smoky Mountains 🚤 Weekend lake days on Fort Loudoun & Norris ⛳ Tons of golf courses tucked into beautiful neighborhoods 🧺 Saturday morning farmers markets 🎶 Windows down, Morgan Wallen playing, cruising backroads ☕ Local coffee shops, community sports, slower evenings Knoxville gives you mountain views, water access, and neighborhoods where kids still ride bikes outside. For families wanting that Tennessee lifestyle without Nashville prices — Knoxville keeps winning. If you’re trying to decide where to move in Tennessee, comment RELOCATE and I’ll send you my Knoxville relocation guide with neighborhoods, pricing, schools, and what locals don’t tell you.
