And here’s another scandalous take—I don’t cut my seed potatoes either! Some say you should chop them up to get more plants, but I’ve found that planting them whole produces stronger, healthier plants with less risk of rot. More yield isn’t worth losing half of them to mush! Here’s what I do focus on: ✔ Good sun—potatoes need at least 6 hours a day. ✔ Moist but not soggy soil—too much water leads to rot. ✔ A boost of organic potassium fertilizer—helps tubers grow big and strong. And this year, I’m trying something new—I’ve planted in baskets and grow bags before, but now I’m building a larger potato tower from fencing. More space, more potatoes!
