It’s something you never think will happen to you — especially when kids get older. The other night Xander (8) had a choking incident that was really, really scary. Thankfully Aubrie and Leo were nearby and they both acted fast to not only alert the adults in the house but Aubrie was actually able to dislodge the food with back blows! I came running from upstairs but he was already okay by the time I got to him! Due to their past traumas, the kids get extremely shaken up with any kind of emergency, I’m sure Xander’s distress and the screams were all very triggering to them. Watching the incident back and hearing the terror in their voices breaks my heart 💔 This was a good reminder for us, and hopefully will serve as one for you too. It’s so important to discuss with your kids what to do when someone is choking! I just ordered one of those suction dechoker devices they sell that can help in these situations. I don’t know why I never had one before! It’s like I said, you never think it will happen to you!

Toddler throws epic tantrum because there's a 'hair on her arm' Funny footage of a toddler throwing a pretty epic tantrum apparently because there's a hair on her arm. The video, filmed in Guildford, Surrey, UK on April 22, shows little Layla getting very upset in the back of her mum's car because she is scared of the hair. Her mum later wrote online: "I was just about to start the engine and go out with my three children when Layla started screaming. "I turned around thinking something awful had happened and then fairly quickly realised she had a hair in her arm." "She had a similar meltdown a few days before when there was a small spider on her window on the outside," she continued. Eventually, Layla stops crying following some calming words from her mother. #parent #parenting #parents #parenthood #family #kids #love #baby #mom #children #motherhood #dad #momlife #child #mother #like #parentingtips #education #mum #father #fatherhood #dadlife #parentlife #school #learning #covid #moms #parentsofteens #familytime #bhfyp

Please, make sure everyone who cares for your little ones knows the signs of choking and how to act fast. Keep anti-choking devices nearby. Leilani was with our nanny when she choked 💔RESHARING for awareness and to answer questions broadly since I would go crazy trying to respond to everyone individually in my DMs. Awareness could’ve potentially saved her. It can save yours maybe, and if there’s even a chance, it’s worth it! I’ll be vulnerable even if it hurts. LifeVac has saved 4040 lives documented so far. This isn’t an add, it’s a genuine post from a grieving mama who would do anything to have her baby back. Please be kind, there are no words that hurt worse than the pain of losing a child. ❤️🩹 The paramedics and everyone who cares for our children are certified but accidents happen! Everyone always says it won’t happen to them until it does. Life is precious and tomorrow is NEVER promised. #AsphyxiationAwareness #InfantLoss #AntiChokingDevice #GriefWithPurpose #ParentingSafety #HerLifeMatters #grief #griefjourney #toddler #baby

👶 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 A shocking video captures a moment that could have turned deadly in seconds. A one-year-old baby was choking on something stuck in the throat. The baby had likely put a piece of paper or plastic in her mouth, and within moments, began struggling to breathe. The mother, confused and in panic, desperately tried to figure out what was happening. Every second felt like a lifetime. Finally, after intense struggle, she pulled out the object. But what if she hadn’t? What if she was a few moments late? #BabyChoking #ZarnabLashari #ParentingAlert #ChildSafety #InfantCare #EmergencyResponse #MotherhoodReality #ViralVideo 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗻: Babies and toddlers instinctively put everything into their mouths to explore their environment. Items like paper, plastic wrappers, tiny toys, or even food particles can block their airways instantly. Since infants can’t speak or gesture clearly, choking often goes unnoticed until it’s too late. This is one of the leading causes of accidental death in babies under age two. 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: Most parents underestimate the danger of everyday items lying around the house. Something as innocent as a receipt, a food wrapper, or a button can become a silent killer. What’s even more alarming is that many parents are unaware of how to perform CPR or emergency choking relief. Trained responses save lives. But many don’t learn until tragedy strikes. 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀: 1. Always keep small objects out of children’s reach. 2. Never leave your baby unattended during playtime. 3. Baby-proof your home properly by securing floors, beds, and drawers. 4. Learn infant CPR and basic choking first aid immediately. 5. Watch out for paper, wrappers, hair ties, pins, and buttons around the house. That one second when your child gags… and your heart stops. Choking is honestly my worst nightmare as a mom. Before you even realize what’s happening, things can go completely wrong. I know some people say “she’s older now, choking risk is less” or think I might be over-cautious… but for me prevention is always better than cure. So I stay careful — always watching, cutting food properly, and staying aware. No matter how careful we are, kids are still learning to eat, chew, and explore food. Sometimes gagging can be part of that learning process — but that doesn’t make it any less scary to watch as a parent. The important part in moments like this is staying calm. Because if I panic, she will panic too. Over time I’ve learned how to respond if a child chokes, and I also keep a choking rescue device at home — just for peace of mind. Motherhood comes with so many silent fears we carry every day. Tell me one thing that scares you as a mom too. Let’s talk about it so we can all learn from each other. 💛
