“Christos Anesti,” is the Paschal Troparion of the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is the central hymn of the Resurrection, sung continuously by Orthodox Christians around the world from the moment of Pascha through the feast of the Ascension, forty days later. The Greek text reads: “Χριστὸς ἀνέστη ἐκ νεκρῶν, θανάτῳ θάνατον πατήσας, καὶ τοῖς ἐν τοῖς μνήμασι ζωὴν χαρισάμενος.” In English: “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and to those in the tombs bestowing life.” It is composed in the fifth tone of Byzantine chant. Alleluia! Christ is risen. He is truly risen. Alleluia! On the third day, our Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead, just as He had promised. The stone was rolled away, the tomb was found empty, and death itself was conquered. By His Passion, He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins; by His Resurrection, He opened for us the gates of eternal life. The Resurrection is the fulfillment of God’s promise— that sin does not have the final word, that suffering is not without meaning, and that death is not the end. In the Risen Christ, we are given new life, a living hope, and the grace to walk in the light of salvation. As the Church proclaims with joy: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” May the light of the Resurrection fill our hearts with faith, renew our souls in grace, and lead us ever closer to the fullness of life in Him. ⸻ Alleluia!
