Enforcement is consistent. More importantly, people feel shame in breaking the law. Here, rule-breaking is normalised, even admired. Patience is mocked. Following the law is seen as weakness. We demand world-class infrastructure but resist world-class accountability. We want speed without order, convenience without responsibility, freedom without consequences. Every new flyover becomes a shortcut for recklessness. Every smooth expressway turns into a racetrack. Roads reflect society. They don’t reform it. Until civic sense is taught early, enforcement is strict, and law is respected without negotiation, no amount of money poured into infrastructure will save lives. Better roads will only help us reach chaos faster. The uncomfortable truth is simple. Development isn’t just concrete and tar. It’s behavior. Without discipline and fear of law, even the best roads lead nowhere good. And no amount of paint can fix that.
