This is the step that actually makes or breaks how your stone cladding turns out. we did so much research before doing this, and a lot of people use the proper dry grouting method with all the right tools… but we’re renovating on a budget and didn’t have the skill for that, so we figured out a way that worked for us. we used a wet grouting method, pushed everything in ourselves, cleaned it back, and even used a garbage bag + nozzle to pipe it in (very DIY but very effective). and honestly this is what I’ve learnt with renovating… you don’t need to have all the experience or expensive tools to get a really good result, you just need to be willing to try, figure it out, and learn as you go. if you’ve been thinking about doing something like this, this is your sign to just start. #diy #renovation #homeinspo #landscapedesign #stonecladding

I know some people love original brick — but for us, the 80s brick just didn’t suit this space. We decided to experiment with a DIY bagged render, and honestly… we fell in love with the soft, natural, textured finish it gave. Soft Bagged Render Recipe: - 1 part off-white cement - 4 parts brickies sand - ½ part clay - A splash of BondCrete (about 1 cup per 20L bucket) - Clean water (until creamy + workable) Mix dry ingredients first, then add your BondCrete/water blend until smooth. Apply with a hessian bag, sponge, or glove for that soft, textured finish. ✨ Tip: keep the mix wetter for a softer look & lightly mist the wall first so it doesn’t dry too fast!

To create a recycled brick look we used Midland Brick 50% Treasury Red and 50% Bishops House, the bricks were then “tumbled” and layed with white mortar to achieve a rustic look. @midland_brick This look is popular with architects in the Mt Lawley and Inglewood areas.
