Simple Clouds & Sky – 15-Minute Sketch Exercise ー シンプルな雲と空の15分スケッチエクササイズ I think this is one of the easiest ways to draw clouds and sky! ☁️ Steps: 1️⃣ Draw guide lines for the cloud outlines. 2️⃣ Add horizontal lines for the sky. 3️⃣ Before adding cloud shades, sketch some guide lines for the bright areas. 4️⃣ Shade with lines — but most importantly, avoid making them horizontal. Cloud Drawing Exercise This time I’m focusing on the texture inside the clouds ☁️ Try using short lines to express the shapes and softness of the clouds. 1️⃣ Start by sketching a rough cloud shape. 2️⃣ Next, draw the sky with vertical or horizontal lines. (I chose vertical lines this time, but either is fine.) 3️⃣ Add texture with short lines. To create more complexity, I used two types: straight short lines and short curved lines. Then stack C-shaped curves for the puffs of the cumulus cloud. Then add diagonal hatching that begins on the curve and follows the form. That’s it. When you simplify the method, the drawing improves immediately. Most people overcomplicate clouds because they try to copy every bump. But if you understand the structure first, the texture becomes easy. Simplification creates clarity. Clarity creates confidence. That’s exactly what the Drawing Drills trains: • Simplified shape construction • Directional hatching • Even spacing • Form before texture • Drawing from imagination with structure Better drawings don’t come from more detail.
