Had an interesting discussion at AWS summit with a Cloud Native Container Platform Lead from Red Hat about AI, DevOps, and engineering. One thing he said really stayed with me: AI is just another layer/application helping engineers speed up work. Right now the industry is still experimenting heavily. I told him something from my own experience: Earlier, I used to spend hours on Stack Overflow. Now most of us go to AI first. But documentation still matters a lot. And he agreed with this completely: AI helps you get direction and ideas. It does not always give the exact answer. At the end of the day, it’s still the engineer’s responsibility to validate, troubleshoot, test, and deeply understand the system. The engineers who only copy AI responses will struggle.
