It’s 2026 and cloud security has officially grown up. We’re no longer talking about “just secure the firewall” or “add a WAF and hope for the best.” Cloud-native environments don’t fail because of one mistake they fail because of chains. A misconfiguration. An over-permissive identity. A workload doing something it shouldn’t. And that’s why learning cloud security today means understanding how everything connects. Terms like CNAPP, CSPM, CWPP, CIEM get thrown around a lot… but memorising acronyms won’t protect a cloud environment. Understanding how attackers move through the cloud will. This is why I’m starting from the basics properly. Breaking down cloud security the way it actually works in the real world: • how environments are built • how identities become the new perimeter • how workloads get compromised • and why modern security has to be unified, not siloed If you’re learning cloud security right now, this is your sign to stop learning it like it’s 2019. We’re building cloud-native thinking here step by step, without the gatekeeping. Save this. Share it with someone learning cloud. And if you’re ready to actually understand cloud security, learn it with me 🔐

Starting Cloud Security? Read this before you waste months learning the wrong things ⚠️ Save this for later & follow for more real tech insights . 1) Cloud ≠ just storage it’s an entire infrastructure. 2) Learn Networking basics first (IP, DNS, Ports = foundation). 3) IAM is king Identity & Access Management is everything. 4) Misconfigurations cause MOST breaches 5) Understand Shared Responsibility Model (AWS/Azure/GCP won’t secure everything for you). 6) Linux basics = non-negotiable. 7) Logs are gold learn to read them. 8) Know at least one cloud deeply before jumping to all. 9) Automation > manual work (learn scripting). 10) Security ≠ tools only its mindset. 11) Learn common attacks (SQLi, XSS, SSRF, etc.) 12) Encryption basics: hashing, SSL, keys. 13) Least privilege principle = survival rule. 14) Certifications help but skills matter more. 15) Monitoring & alerts save companies from disasters. 16) Compliance matters (ISO, SOC2, GDPR). 17) Version control (Git) is a must. 18) Containers & Kubernetes basics are becoming standard. 19) Always assume systems can be hacked. 20) Curiosity + consistency > talent. . . . Cloud Security Cheat Sheet Cloud security is the top priority for any business because it ensures the safety and privacy of their digital assets in the cloud. Having said that, it is not that simple, especially with so many services, applications, and potential threats to consider. The complexity of modern cloud environments requires diligent planning, robust security measures, and continuous monitoring to protect against data breaches, cyberattacks, and compliance violations. Businesses must proactively invest in cloud security practices, stay informed about evolving threats, and adapt their strategies to mitigate risks effectively and maintain trust with their customers and partners. Especially with multi-cloud implementations, the complexity grows. Keeping a watchful eye on the services and resources scattered across multiple cloud providers can be challenging. It demands a comprehensive understanding of each cloud platform’s unique security features, configurations, and best practices. Happy to introduce the cloud security cheat sheet that maps the cloud services across three popular cloud providers and helps you to quickly navigate the complexities of cloud security. #cloudsecurity #cloudcomputing #azure #aws #googlecloud #networksecurity #devops #devsecops

Cloud security is evolving fast, and if you’re not keeping up... you’re already behind. Yesterday, I got to attend a private security briefing at Google’s Mountain View campus. Here’s everything I learned: 1. The threat landscape is evolving fast: - Ransomware is targeting sectors that have to pay: governments, healthcare, critical infrastructure. 2. North Korean IT worker threat: - Globally, threat actors are interviewing as employees to infiltrate companies and steal information. 3. On-prem security ≠ cloud security: - You might be able to host your device in the cloud, but scaling, licensing, identity, and logging become harder. 4. Google is building toward an “Agentic SOC”: - New AI agents for alert triaging and malware analysis were announced yesterday! 5. Unified Security launched: - Google announced “Unified Security” at NEXT25 - putting all major security workflows into a single system. 6. AI threats are real: - Attackers are already using AI to generate fake content and level up social engineering tactics. RSA kicks off today 🤠 who’s ready??
