Coastal Carpet Python showing how effortlessly it climbs straight up a tree. It’s so incredible to watch in person. I caught this python at a property in Maleny the other day. While I was watching it leave the bag, it went straight for this tree and right to the top. Snake relocations $90 +GST - 24/7 - 365 ☎️ 0447711360 #carpetpython #python #snakes

These two are just getting to know each other a bit and doing a bit of cuddling. I'm not sure if Dandy will give us eggs this year, but I can definitely pray 🙏 can't I? 🤪 What I have found is that carpet pythons need time to get to know each other before doing the deed. Ball pythons don't seem to need that extra week that carpets do. Bumblebee (the male), is definitely putting in the work! This is why beginners struggle… and no one talks about it. It’s not always because they’re doing something wrong. Most of the time, it’s because they’re being taught the wrong things from the start. A new keeper comes in wanting to do everything right. They listen, they learn, they follow the advice they’re given… myself included!! You hear “handle them more so they get used to you”, “move them to feed”, “deep clean everything constantly”. It sounds responsible. It sounds like good care. But snakes don’t work like that. They don’t build trust through constant interaction. They respond to consistency, stability, and how safe their environment feels over time. Every unnecessary handling session, every time they’re moved, every time their enclosure is stripped of scent and familiarity (especially at the time of bringing your new animal home)… that sense of security gets reset. So the snake becomes defensive. Feeding becomes inconsistent. Behaviour gets harder to read. And the beginner, who’s genuinely trying, starts to feel like they’re failing. But they’re not. They’re just following advice that was never built around the animal, and unfortunately, with how many people around the world are breeding in large numbers, a lot of the advice being pushed is about making animals easier to manage… not understanding them long term. It keeps things moving, it keeps animals cycling out… but it doesn’t set new keepers up for success. The difference isn’t effort… it’s understanding. And until that changes, beginners will keep struggling for reasons that were never actually their fault. 2 male Carpet pythons fighting over nearby female and break through the roof by accident 🙈🐍🐍 I was called out to a home in Lake MacDonald last night to relocate this cheeky body that had fallen through the roof. The residents here weren’t too worried about snakes but this pair falling through the ceiling into the bathroom wasn’t ideal. During breeding season (Spring) when a female Carpet pythons is ovulating she will attract males to her to mate with her. Boys will fight over her for the right to mate with her. This is what these boys are doing. Keep an eye out folks seasons here 🐍🐍🐍 Luke 0499920290 😎🐍 #lukethesnakecatcher #snake #snakecatcher #noosa #carpetpython #sunshinecoast #lakemacdonald

Have you ever disciplined a snake? 😂 🐍 One of our lovely followers has snakes often come and go from her property. She happily co-exists with them until they get into the laundry and prevent her from doing the washing lol! We had a good laugh at this video. This Coastal Carpet Python took it like a champ hahaha!

Unpopular opinion: carpet pythons don’t need UVB 👀🐍 This one always starts debates… but here’s the reality: Carpet pythons are primarily nocturnal/crepuscular, so their UV requirements are very low compared to diurnal reptiles. What they actually need: • Correct heat gradient (this is the priority) • Proper day/night cycle • Quality nutrition UVB can be beneficial and for people only keeping a few reptiles it might be worth it, but it’s not essential for their health when husbandry is otherwise correct ( exception being diamond pythons). If you do use UV: • Keep it low level (think Ferguson Zone 1–2) • Provide plenty of shade/hides so they can choose • It should never replace proper heating And if your snakes get occasional natural sunlight (safely, supervised, not overheating), that will often meet any minimal UV exposure they’d seek anyway. Bottom line: focus on heat and setup first—UV is optional, not a requirement for carpet pythons. #carpetpython #reptilecare #snakeowner #reptilesofinstagram #exoticpets reptilehusbandry snakefacts reptilelover petreptiles aussiesnakes
