Wanting to learn how to get rid of a cold fast? This is how I do it as a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. #colds #coldseason #headacherelief #alternativemedicine #immunebooster this information here is just for informational purposes only and it’s not medical recommendation. Please see your physician as advised. so traditionally Ginger is used to help with digestion as well as colds. Fresh ginger is best used at the beginning stages of a cold or flu. I start to use it when I’m starting to feel a sore throat coming on, or getting bodyaches. Fresh ginger is a natural antibiotic and antiviral that works to dispel what is known as wind cold in traditional Chinese medicine and induces sweating. you can also make a fresh ginger tea with honey if you prefer. To do this take several slices of ginger and add it to boiling water and let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes. You can add a teaspoon of honey for taste. Continually drink this through the rest of the day. This is a great preventative for colds and flus as well.

Tell us in the comments if you’ve tried this or had it done by your acupuncturist. The back of the neck and head are very important areas for treatment and prevention of colds and flus in Chinese medicine. Whenever we treat headache, sinus congestion, scratchy throat, runny nose, and really anything that affects the head and face - we always open this part of the neck. This simple Gua Sha technique shown here stimulates several important acupuncture points that boost immune strength and relieve neck pain. Looks like a simple technique, but is more powerful than you realize. Often, you can prevent a cold or flu in the early stages by opening the neck with Gua Sha. Even more effective would be to add heat by warming your tool, or using our Lanshin Hot Massager by Acera. You can also tell your acupuncturist if you feel under the weather and they will likely do complete professional Gua Sha or Cupping treatment for you. The tool shown is the Lanshin Intro Gua Sha tool. You can also use the Lanshin Pro Gua Sha tool, and for a super boost - our Lanshin Massager by Acera. I wanted you to have these tips all in one place just in case you need it this weekend. Here are 5 things to do when your child has a cough. 1. MIST AIR. Adding in moisture can really help with congestion + comfort. Try sitting with your little one in a steamy bathroom, a cool-mist humidifier, and/or a portable nebulizer (or all three!) a few times a day. 2. HONEY and SIPS OF WARM APPLE JUICE. Data shows that honey (for kids > 1 year old) is effective at improving coughs + sore throats - it’s a wonderful, natural way to help with symptoms. Sips of warm apple juice (after babies have started solids) can also help a lot! 3. NASAL SUCTION + NASAL SALINE. Focus on nasal saline with suction as needed (before feeds, bedtime, when your child seems uncomfortable) - a few times a day. 4. POWER FOODS. Foods with cysteine (chicken soup, bone broth, lentils, oatmeal, eggs, low-fat yogurt) help with congestion. Cysteine is an amino acid that helps to loosen secretions and increase mucous flow. Foods with Vitamin C and Vitamin A can help to nurture immunity as well. 5. FLUIDS. When kids have coughs, they need extra hydration to help support healing. It’s okay if they don’t feel like eating much while they are sick - just try your best to focus on fluids through the day. I know this season is very hard for so many parents — it will get better. And know that you’re doing so great. . . . . . . . #sickbaby #coughs #colds #rsv #croup #parenting #parentingtips

Nasya therapy, a central self-care practice within the Ayurvedic framework, involves the application of herbal oils into the nostrils and it represents arguably one of the most powerful and evidence-based tools we have for preventing respiratory cold and flu infections. This is because most infection causing respiratory viruses enter the body through the nostrils. By keeping the mucous membranes in the nose nicely lubricated, they become stickier and act like fly-paper, increasing their ability to catch viruses and bacteria before they can enter the respiratory tract. Once caught in this way, the immune system then mounts a response to envelope and destroy them. To benefit from this practice, simply add a few drops of an authentic Ayurvedic nasal oil such as Anu oil into each nostril every morning and especially before going into busy public spaces. Alternatively you can use a pure oil such as coconut, olive or almond oil.
