SO many students make the mistake of thinking that listing these extracurriculars on their college apps will get them into college! But 😬 that kind of thinking is completely missing the point Here’s the truth.. (But first, save this post for when you’re ready to fill out your college applications!) Colleges don’t ❌ really care what you’re doing with your free time!!!! What they DO care about is: - The motivations behind the extracurricular activities you pursue - The skills you gain through your participation in that activity - What your extracurriculars say about your personality and strengths - How you use your strengths to help others - The impact you make on your community So just listing the activity on the common app with an activity list entry you wrote in 30 seconds? Not going to cut it. A brief mention in your personal statement?
