I finally made a color Chart of my watercolor palette 🎨✨ In this reel, I swatched every color I own and labeled each one with its color name and pigment number — and honestly, this might be one of the most helpful things I’ve done for my painting practice. Why does the pigment number matter? Because the name of a color can be misleading. “Cerulean Blue” in one brand might be completely different from “Cerulean Blue” in another. The true identity of a paint is its pigment code (like PB29, PR122, PY150). Knowing your pigment numbers helps you: • Understand how colors will mix • Avoid buying duplicates under different names • Choose more lightfast and professional pigments • Learn which colors are single-pigment (cleaner mixes!) • Build a more intentional palette When you start paying attention to pigment numbers, you stop guessing — and you start painting with clarity. While I believe anyone can paint this, I’ll tell you it’s the easiest peasiest. But how cute is that pun?! And hopefully I break it down into actionable steps that don’t feel overwhelming. Just make sure to use lots of water for this one! And feel free to sketch out your shapes ahead of time! Sometimes trying to puzzle piece while you’re going can be stressful. Perspective isn't just drawing - it's colour I remind you here that warm colours in watercolour seem to advance towards the eye, whilst cool colours seem to recede, seem further away. Furthermore, there are warm and cool versions of all colours except blue. On the second sheet, I give examples of earth colours as being the warm colours here, which are often more useful for landscape, whilst the cool greens violet and blue seem farther off.  Finally, I show you a demonstration landscape where I have put this principle into practice. Red ochre and warm green accentuate the proximity of the foreground. Testing @charvinarts watercolor paints - a few surprises there - was pleasantly surprised by the warm colors, blues and greens and a little disappointed with the pink and purple though the hue for purple was delicious!!
