Today, I felt a noticeable difference in my comfortability and confidence when shadowing the speech. I’ve practiced this 2 minute segment for 3 weeks now and finally feel like I can make this speech my own. I started it off with just mirroring her hand gestures to learn what it feels like to have good body language. But now I feel like it truly is my own. It takes a long time, probably longer than you think, to learn behavior. So be patient with yourself. No need to rush to learn new videos, focus on perfecting one first #publicspeaking

This may be a trick question 🤷‍♀️ ER or NOT? ➡️ Hugely related to parent's preference, comfortability, & knowing your own child No right answer, let's talk ⤵️ HEAD INJURIES 💥 Here's what you need to know ⤵️ 🧠 Major signs to be concerned about: ▫️Loss of consciousness on immediate hit -> not crying, hard to arouse, not having memory of injury or immediately following injury ▫️Not acting themselves or not being at your child's baseline following fall or hitting head -> after the initial shock wears off ▫️Vomiting (not related to hard crying if they were hysterical post fall and are a child who vomits when gets too worked up) ▫️Not able to be fully aroused (woken up) if they fall asleep ▫️Excessive fussiness in infants, especially excessive high pitch crying and/or bulging fontanels (soft spots) ▫️Bruising that appears later behind the ears, especially if this is unrelated to the spot where they hit their head ❤️‍🩹 If your child has suspected closed head injury (concussion), then be aware that some headache will likely persist for several days following injury depending on the severity as the "wound" heals 🤕 Myths/old wives tales: ▫️Keep your child awake, don't let them fall asleep, or keep waking them if they do fall asleep -> this is false. If your child has worn themselves out from crying and it is close to bedtime/naptime, then let that child sleep. If your child had other signs that were concerning like extreme lethargy (different than tired) or altered mental status seek medical attention ▫️A big bump is immediately concerning -> this is also false. Heads have tons of tiny little blood vessels called capillaries that are close to the surface which can burst and cause a lot of swelling. This is also why head wounds bleed so much. Actually, swelling on the outside of the head is overall usually better than swelling on the inside *Once again if your child is not acting right or doesn't "Snap out of it" then obviously seek medical attention ➡️ Also don't be alarmed if you do go to an ER and they do not get imaging -> various assessments are completed with a set of criteria to meet to warrant a head CT with children 🙂 #peds #emergency

Man… community and friends of all different shapes, sizes, colors and abilities are amazing to have. BUT the connection, relatability, comfortability, empathy and understanding that arises and is shared between a group of friends who are all living life with a severe and similar physical disability (spinal cord injury) is slim to none! • The ups, the downs, the struggles , the secondary complications and everything else that come with this injury are next level and pretty much a full-time job all on their own. • The majority of society can’t relate to our lives the way that our peers can and that in itself is why we share content showing how we live, thrive, struggle, love and find joy. • Looking forward to the next link up with the quad squad and hopefully adding a few more to the group! 🫡♿️

Be real, be authentic. Everyone knows right from wrong. Don’t keep going down a path of comfortability thinking that you can’t change you can change by the Holy Spirit by accepting Jesus Christ into your heart and being a reflection of the everlasting love that he has for each and every one of us it doesn’t matter what we’ve gone through as kids what we’ve gone through in our adult life what matters is how you bounce back from what we have lacked in life that we needed. If you didn’t have a good childhood or upbringing, make sure you do everything in your power to not reflect that on the people around you and be the person who evolves from the trauma instead of living in it. I love yall Jesus is the answer to everything. It’s in your heart ❤️ Let him work through you.
