Let me tell you a secret... Comic cakes aren't as hard to make as they look! 🤯 And with my tips, they are even easier 😉👇🏼 ✨️ You need sharp edges and no visible bumps on your buttercream frosted cake. You won't be able to hide any mistakes later. ✨️ I can't stress this point enough: GET A FONDANT EXTRUDER! I have tried rolling the black lines by hand, and it's almost impossible to get them all the same thickness... plus, it will take you twice as long! A fondant extruder isn't too costly, and it's definitely worth it. Which brings me to point no 3... ✨️ You have to work fast for a buttercream based comic cake. The buttercream should remain firm while you add the black fondant lines so they don't accidentally get pressed into the buttercream. ✨️Use a cake tin the same size as the cake to cut the top fondant piece to size (I have seen other bakers do it on the actual cake -but in my humble opinion that works better for fondant covered cakes. ✨️Remember to outline everything. If you have seen my Halloween themed comic cake from a few weeks ago, even the single blood drops were outlined! No outline -no 2D effect! Hope these tips were useful. ✨Cartoon realness✨ . I made this cake for an awesome client that wanted something similar to the previous comic/cartoon cake I made but more colorful and with more💥pizazz💥 for her 7 year old boy. And let me tell you that her and I completely LOVED the result! I absolutely adore when my clients trust my skills and taste to create their cakes 🥹💕 . The instructions were: more colorful and to have the slice somewhere in the cake. Say no more boss 🫡 . Decided to use a colorful comic wallpaper instead of a black and white like last time. I found the perfect image in the land of google hahaha and also thought of adding the sound bubbles(?) would be a great addition so POW! BOOM! KAPOW!
