El presidente del Comité Nobel, Jorgen Watne Frydnes, generó polémica al instar directamente al presidente venezolano Nicolás Maduro a renunciar durante la entrega del Premio Nobel de la Paz. En su discurso, Frydnes elevó el tono político al señalar que “detrás de Maduro está Cuba, Rusia, Irán, China y Hezbolá”, concluyendo con la frase: “Señor Maduro, renuncie”.
