Starting solids for your baby? Never do these mistakes #solidsforbaby #soildsforbabies #solidfoodideas #complementaryfeeding #complementaryfeedingjourney #complementaryfood #complementaryfoods

my fav way to introduce foods! 🥑🍌🥕 As a feeding therapist, I recommend waiting to offer complementary foods until baby is showing these readiness signs: ▫️good head control ▫️Sitting unsupported or with little support ▫️Demonstrating interest in foods ▫️Able to reach and grab And that is generally not around 4 months of age. It’s typically closer to 6 months of age just depending on the baby. HOWEVER. I love to start to welcome baby to the world of complementary foods through sensory play first! And you *can* do this before baby meets all those readiness signs. Because the point is not eating. The point is simply exploring with their hands and taking in the smells and feel of food! *or you can wait and still intro this way—either is fine!!* So if your baby is showing some readiness signs, but they’re not quite there yet…maybe they can’t sit with minimal support yet, but they’re super interested, have great head control, and are pretty good with reaching and grabbing—like my little guy here—this can be so fun and a great little no pressure intro.! ⭐️Some things to keep in mind: -use purees for this. You can make your own or use store bought, but stick with purees. If anything does make it to the mouth, that is safer if baby isn’t showing all the signs for solids yet. To eat purees, babies can just suck, which they already know how to do. -no pressure is key. All you do is put the puree on the tray and baby does the rest. -we do still want baby in an upright and well-supported position that gives them access to the tray to explore on their own. The @theupseat is perfect for this and what I used in the video! You can use my code THEFEEDINGCOMPANY10 for a discount! -if baby brings hands to mouth while exploring and gets a little taste, that’s fine! But we’re not feeding it to them! -let baby get messy messy messy!!! Questions? Healthy Homemade Travel Friendly Mix for Kids Age : 6 months+ Ingredients: ✅ 1/2 cup roasted gram ✅ 1/2 cup puffed rice (alternate: poha/flattened rice) ✅ 1/4 cup mixed nuts -you can also soak them overnight and sundry before using. ✅1 tsp ghee Method: 1. Dry Roast roasted gram and puffed rice separately on low-medium heat. Make sure to do this really well. 2. Roast the mixed nuts in ghee. 3. First grind the roasted gram. Then add the puffed rice and nuts to the same mixie and grind. 4. Sieve this powder through a fine mesh. 5. The leftover in the sieve can be grinded again. 6. Pass it through the sieve one last time and the instant mix is ready! 7. To prepare the porridge, mix together 4 tbsp of the powder with 70-80 ml boiling hot water. Cover this and let it sit for 5 minutes. Plain porridge is ready. You can add any spices like cardamom powder, cinnamon powder, roasted jeera powder, Ajwain powder etc for flavour. I added cinnamon powder and a mashed banana to this and it tasted heavenly. 💥 This powder can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for upto a month. ⏳ Few tips to make sure your instant mixes stay fresh longer: 1. Roast the individual ingredients really well. 2. When grinding, make sure there is no moisture in the mixie jar. It should be absolutely dry. Put it in the balcony (in sun) for sometime to make sure it’s dry. 3. The airtight container you store it in needs to be absolutely clean and dry. Wipe it dry before transferring the contents to it. When to start solid foods for baby?❤️🧿🥗 ✅Babies develop at different stages. ☑️Begin introducing solids when your baby is ready. ☑️ This should be around 6 months. ☑️This is the same for both breastfed and formula fed babies 👶 ❌You should not give your baby solid foods before 17 weeks( 4 months) because: ✔️Their kidneys are not mature enough to handle food and drinks other than milk. ✔️Their digestive systems are not yet developed enough to cope with solid foods. ✔️Breast milk or formula milk is all your baby needs until they are 6 months old ✔️introducing other foods or focal displace the essential nutrients supplied by breast or formula milk ✔️introducing solids too early can increase the risk of your child having obesity later in life ✔️it can increase their risk of allergy ❌Don’t wait later than 26 weeks (6 months). This is because: ✔️your baby’s energy needs can no longer be met by either breast milk or formula milk alone ✔️iron stores from birth are used up by 6 months and their iron needs can no longer be met by milk alone ✔️it delays their opportunity to learn important skills, including self feeding ✔️introducing different textures stimulates the development of muscles involved in speech #ruhikadeli #babyinfluencer #pediatricianmom #mommylife #solidfoodforbaby #whentostartsolidfoods #whennottostart #complementaryfood #miniinfluencer #feedingbaby #highchair #solidfood #solidfoodforbaby
