In this video, I share my personal experience living with Complex PTSD (CPTSD), including the symptoms I’ve experienced, how trauma can show up years later, and the strategies that help me manage it. Complex PTSD doesn’t always look dramatic or obvious. Sometimes it looks like nightmares, hypervigilance, difficulty with conflict, or a nervous system that learned to survive too well. I’m not a mental health professional — I’m simply sharing my own story in the hope that it helps others feel less alone and opens up more honest conversations about trauma and healing. In this video I talk about: • What Complex PTSD (CPTSD) is • How CPTSD shows up in my daily life • Nightmares and trauma dreams • Hypervigilance and anxiety • Why conflict can feel threatening after trauma • Practical coping strategies that help me regulate my nervous system Healing from trauma takes time, and everyone’s journey looks different. If you’re navigating something similar, I hope this conversation offers validation, understanding, and a few helpful tools. ________________________________________ Resources Mentioned Cleveland Clinic – Complex PTSD https://my.clevelandclinic.org National Institute of Mental Health – PTSD Statistics https://www.nimh.nih.gov NHS Inform PTSD & CPTSD Self-Help Guide https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/mental-health/mental-health-self-help-guides/ptsd-and-cptsd-self-help-guide/ Additional coping strategies for CPTSD: https://alleviant.com/blog/living-with-cptsd-daily-coping-strategies-for-deeply-rooted-trauma ________________________________________ If this topic resonates with you, feel free to share your experiences or coping strategies in the comments. The label complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) has been given to describe the set of symptoms that can develop in response to prolonged, repeated experience of interpersonal trauma. #cptsd #cptsdrecovery #cptsdsymptoms #complextrauma #cptsdhealing

𝐏𝐓𝐒𝐃 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜. Sometimes it looks like being “on edge” all the time. Like snapping when you don’t mean to. Like avoiding conversations, places, or people without fully understanding why. PTSD is a nervous system that learned to survive something overwhelming. Hypervigilance. Irritability. Avoidance. These aren’t personality flaws. They’re trauma responses. As a mental health provider, I see how often people minimize their symptoms because they don’t have “flashbacks.” But trauma lives in the body. If this feels familiar, you’re not alone. Comment “PTSD” and let’s talk about it. . . . . . #ptsdawareness #traumahealingjourney #hypervigilance #traumarecoverywork #nervoussystemhealing #cptsdrecovery #TraumaSupportCommunity #traumasupportcommunity #mentalhealthvalidation #emotionalregulationskills #traumainformedcare #ptsdrecovery #traumahealing #mentalhealthsupport #anxietyandtrauma #healingfromtrauma #mentalhealthmatters #emotionalwellness #selfhealingjourney #therapyhelps #overcomingtrauma #mentalhealth #mentalwellness #selfgrowth #healingjourney #anxietyawareness #selfcare #psychology #wellbeing #mindset

CPTSD symptoms no one talks about but everyone with CPTSD probably experiences on some level. Time blindness. Can’t imagine a future. Emotional numbness when things are good. Feeling like you’re performing your own life. Decision paralysis. Not recognizing yourself. Inability to feel joy. These aren’t talked about in the diagnostic criteria. But if you have CPTSD, you probably know them intimately. You’re not broken. Your nervous system adapted to survive an environment that wasn’t safe. And these symptoms? They made sense then. Now they don’t. And with the right support, they can heal. If this resonates and you’re ready for trauma-informed work that addresses the root—I have a few Soul Care spots open. Emotional symptoms of CPTSD. Intrusive thoughts. Self blaming. Interchanging emotional responses. Fear and panic surges. Disconnection and isolation. Fixation. #cptsd #cptsdrecovery #complextraumahealing #complextrauma #traumahealing

Some CPTSD symptoms are so subtle people go years without realizing they’re trauma responses. They can feel like personality traits, insecurities, or just “how you are.” But many of these patterns are actually nervous system adaptations to long-term trauma. When you start learning about CPTSD, a lot of things suddenly start to make sense. If this resonated with you, you’re not broken. Your brain learned how to survive. Save this if it helped something click for you 🤍 #cptsd

People say “just sit in silence.” A CPTSD brain has never known what silence actually is. 🧠🫀 #complexptsdawareness #complextrauma #cptsdsurvivor #complexptsdrecovery #childhoodtrauma Credits: @healing.and.cptsd

The hardest part about complex PTSD isn’t just the pain-it’s the way it feels endless. You keep telling yourself “it will get better”, but after years of surviving, it starts to feel like a lie. There’s no timeline to look back on, no anchor of “before,” and even the good memories hurt because you crave that feeling so badly it breaks you. CPTSD isn’t one event. It’s a life shaped by relentless wounds. It leaves people in chronic pain-people who become some of the most empathetic, kind souls you’ll ever meet, even as they’re burning inside. The truth is, healing doesn’t always mean the fire goes away. Sometimes it just means you’ve learned to hide the flames Folllow for more ❤️🩹 @djweeks_ #complexptsd #cptsd #cptsdawareness #traumarecovery #traumasurvivor
