Composting made easy 🌱 I use a sprinkler valve in each corner of my raised garden boxes. I fill them with kitchen scraps and let the decomposers in my soil do the rest. Each corner becomes its own self-feeding compost system (it's actually called Vermicomposting) — no turning, no pile, no extra work. When one valve is full, I move to the next corner. It takes a couple of weeks to break down, so by the time I circle back, it’s ready for more scraps. ✨ Don’t overthink composting. Do what works for your garden and what’s easiest for your setup. Fantastic advice and tips from @huwsgarden on what to do with your compost once created. ♻️ ________ A quick intro to how I am self-sufficient in compost by not seeing it as a blanket solution. I have a lot more to say about all this, but this is the basics about seeing it as a precious precision tool. 📸 @huwsgarden 🌿 #selfsufficiency #growyourownfood #kitchengarden #compost #getcomposting

What’s to love about compost you ask? Well what kinda wanna be fake gardener/ farmer would I be with no home made compost? 🙃 But seriously, I love me some compost, and have been getting compost bags as my birthday gift for the last few years, and couldn’t love it more… I’ve been heavily influenced by @helenlikesplants to try home composting, but mostly I didn’t have anywhere to dump the green waste from the garden and thought why not just try direct composting in the polytunnel over winter, and looks like we have a low effort winner here. Must say I’m very pleased with the results. We did have some chunks of uncomposted greens to discard, but apart from, that this was some beautiful home made compost. #composting #sustainablegarden #trenchcomposting #backyardgardening #regenerativegardening

Making compost is wonderful. Using kitchen scraps and garden waste and turning it into nutrients for your garden is super satisfying. For simple composting all you need is a compost area or bin , add kitchen scraps like veg and fruit waste and peelings along with any garden waste and grass cuttings ,gentle layer the greens and browns ( you can add cardboard for layers in between and faster breakdown ) keep the light out and turn occasionally. After 1 year your compost should be ready for using . #compost #easygardening #naturescycles #begginergardener #lovegardening

Think composting requires a big space? Maybe you think the way I used to… You assume you can’t compost your food scraps because you need to have a huge yard or acreage or small farm. But the reality is: You do NOT need a big yard or big compost pile to compost your food scraps! And if you think otherwise, you’re going to keep throwing valuable food scraps in the trash (or paying someone to haul it away) while purchasing amendments and missing one of the easiest ways to feed your soil naturally. The truth? (Besides miracles don’t come in bags…😉) Composting can happen in very small spaces. This is an example of one of the locations where I compost my food scraps in a narrow space in my community garden and quietly turn them into nutrient-rich soil. ❌No piles. ❌No yard waste. ❌No turning or figuring out ratios or moisture levels. ❌No attracting pests. Just a simple way to turn everyday kitchen scraps into healthy nutrient-rich soil that naturally feeds your garden. In case we haven’t met yet… Hi! 👋 I’m Jen. 👩🌾 I help urban gardeners DISCREETLY compost your food scraps so that you can feed your soil and plants naturally even if you have a small or wildlife-heavy space. I’m putting the final touches on The Bokashi Bootcamp™️, a small, structured program designed to help you implement this properly with support over two months. Yes, real life support from me. I absolutely LOVE teaching this way because what I’ve learned is most questions come AFTER the class when you’re at home implementing. Want early access? DM or comment or email BOOTCAMP and I’ll let you know when enrollment opens. (I don’t employ bots - so it may take some time for me - a real human - to respond.😅)

Less than 4 weeks ago, we decided to move two of our veggies beds to our front yard. We filled them with homemade compost and @clydecompost. The rest of the garden looks like actual scorched earth, but the growth in these beds has been incredible! Compost for the win!!
