Follow @themillionairewomensclub to become the best version of yourself ✨️ 💕 Grace Hopper’s story begins with rejection, but not defeat. Turned away by the Navy during World War II for being too old and too underweight, she refused to accept limits placed on her. Instead, she pushed forward and eventually entered the world of programming. At a time when computers could only understand raw machine instructions, she imagined something better. She created the first compiler, a tool that translated human language into computer logic. That breakthrough laid the foundation for modern programming and changed the future of computing. Her influence did not stop there. She developed COBOL, a language still used by major institutions around the world. She also coined the term debugging after discovering an actual moth inside a malfunctioning machine, turning a problem into a piece of history. By the end of her career, she became a rear admiral and left a legacy that continues to shape technology today. Her persistence proved that innovation often comes from those who refuse to quit, even when the path seems closed. Next time your apps crash, blame this moth. 🦋 In 1947, the Harvard Mark II computer failed for a bizarre reason: a real insect was trapped in a relay. Pioneer Grace Hopper taped the moth into her logbook, marking the “first actual case of a bug being found.” What’s the weirdest tech glitch you’ve ever experienced? 💻⚡ Follow @dailytechdive for the future of innovation. 🚀🦾 #dailytechdive #computerhistory #gracehopper #coding #techfacts

GenAI feels like it appeared overnight. But it didn’t. So I went back to 1954 to try and make sense of this moment. As someone who teaches AI, I needed to understand how we got here. That’s how I found Grace Hopper. In 1954, she told her colleagues that programmers should write in English and computers should translate it. They said it couldn’t be done. She built it anyway. For 70 years, we still learned their languages. Python. JavaScript. COBOL. Her vision was so very different. Computers should understand us. Today I tell my AI: “Create a meal planner” and it creates it for me, no coding required. She saw this before most of us were born. Her vision was to make programming simple for everyone. We’re living in the world she built. P.S. Sometimes the only way forward is to look back. #WomenInTech #AIHistory #GraceHopper #AIEducation
