-- Attucks S.T.E.A.M. Academy students dove into a hands-on workshop at the Fluid Power Action Challenge at Eastside Campus! Hydraquip, a local company specializing in hydraulic, electrohydraulic, and fully electric systems, brought excitement with Mini Building Kits. Hydroquip reps guided the students as they constructed a four‑inch cube and a rotating platform. Thanks to a PSF grant, students in grades 6–8 at McDougle Middle School are building essential STEM skills through hands-on, culturally-relevant learning. MMS Math Teacher/Interventionist Mary Patricia Peres-da-Silva is using the new STEM sets to extend the curriculum and spark collaboration during STEM Fridays. “Students are brainstorming, collaborating, and completing projects where every student is seen, heard, and proud of their accomplishments,” she shared. Students will showcase their creations at a schoolwide STEM Night in April, celebrating the impact of creative thinking. #PSFgrantsinaction

The 2025 STEM had an incredible time representing Northpoint at the NM Governors STEM Challenge this weekend in Las Vegas, NM. They were grilled by seven teams of judges for three hours and did amazing. While we didn’t win the big prize each student will receive $100 for their hard work. Great job STEM team!!!! We are proud of you!!!

Regional science & engineering fairs kick off on 3/6! Students across Massachusetts will be presenting the culminating work of their science fair journey—and you can play a meaningful role in that experience. Judging is one of the most powerful parts of the science fair journey. Students consistently tell us how impactful it is to have a thoughtful STEM professional engage deeply with their ideas. The eighth graders learned about potential and kinetic energy and built either junkyard mousetrap cars or catapults. They had a lot of fun with the STEM project. The goal was to launch a tennis ball into a garbage can or have the car travel at least 3 meters. 🚗 🎾
