Depuis les années 70 et 80 : la concentration et la financiarisation des terres agricoles. Un phénomène qui a entraîné la perte de près de 2 millions de fermes et 5 millions d’agriculteurs, modifiant profondément le visage de l’agriculture traditionnelle. Les terres ont cessé d’appartenir aux agriculteurs pour être détenues par des sociétés anonymes, dont les décisions sont guidées par des logiques d’actions et de rentabilité. Cette concentration et financiarisation des terres agricoles s’accompagnent d’une domination sans précédent de l’industrie et des intermédiaires dans la chaîne de valeur agricole. En effet, environ 3 % des coopératives contrôlent aujourd’hui 85 % du marché, instaurant un quasi-monopole qui leur permet d’imposer les prix de rachat aux agriculteurs, fragilisant encore davantage leur situation. La concentration agricole et industrielle, incarnée par des géants tels que Lactalis, Avril, et Danone.
