Corals are ANIMALS, not plants. Touching these creatures can damage their protective mucus layer, stress them out, and even lead to death, taking decades to heal. They may look like colorful rocks, but they’re living animals, fragile and vital to marine life and the health of our oceans. 🌊🪸 Always be mindful visitors in their home. Spread awareness and protect the reef. 💙 #PADI #MarineLife #Corals #MarineAnimals #RespectTheReef #OceanAwareness #DiveResponsibly

Do you know what the difference is between a dead, bleached and healthy coral? Reel by @noe.langronier #corals#coralreef #coralgardeners

For the love of our ocean 💌 This Ocean Month and beyond, we’re reminded of the incredible, life-sustaining biodiversity of our ocean. From coral reefs to the high seas, marine ecosystems are the foundation for much of the natural world. As the climate crisis intensifies, our ocean feels the brunt of the impacts, throwing these delicate systems off balance. The implications could upend life as we know it. We are forever grateful to our seas for holding us in moments of need and providing endless inspiration. We can only hope to give a fraction of the same love and care back in return. 🪸 In the heart of the Pacific, new research is offering a source of hope for the future of coral reefs. On the remote atoll of Tatakoto, scientists supported by #UNESCO have identified heat-resistant “super corals” thriving in extreme ocean temperatures. These resilient organisms are surviving and resisting bleaching, even as marine heatwaves become more frequent. As coral reefs around the world face mounting threats from climate disruption, this breakthrough shows that nature still holds solutions, if we act in time. Through research, international cooperation, and community engagement, UNESCO is helping protect these vital ecosystems and the countless species and people who depend on them. Because safeguarding biodiversity means safeguarding our shared future. This mission was led by @hedouinlaetitia, research director at @cnrs and coral reef specialist, whose work focuses on understanding how corals respond to environmental pressures. It was documented by photographer and explorer @alexis.rosenfeld , who has spent years capturing the transformation of coral reefs around the world. Together with UNESCO through the ‘Coral reefs, a challenge for humanity’ project, work has already been undertaken to assess the state of these essential ecosystems and the threats they face. 📹 Video: Alexis Rosenfeld #WorldReefDay #Corals #Tatakoto #UNESCO

@toutiess’s passion for saving the reef has been truly inspiring. As the founder of @coralgardeners, he shared the story of how his mission came about, and his dedication to the cause is truly admirable. Titouan's life changed forever after a single dive. He believes that the simple act of planting one coral was the missing piece of the puzzle that led to the creation of a global movement to save the reef. His unwavering dedication to saving the reef has been nothing short of remarkable, and serves as a shining example that one person can make a HUGE difference! #SavingTheReefs #SavingTheOcean #coralgardeners #Corals

We are moving! Coral Restoration is a learning curve, and even the plans with the best intentions, don't always work out the way you hope for. In 2025, we placed reef stars on two snorkeling sites at Mnemba Atoll, hoping to restore them simultaneously. Though our second site has turned out to be a "failure", primarily in part from our side for not properly assesing the risk factors that would prohibit the growth of the site. We knew they were there, but were hopeful and optimistic that the actions of others, once they saw the effort into restoring our common home, would change some practices fx.regarding anchorage. Unfortunately its not the case for now, so it was decided since our first site is a success with 90% survival of the corals outplanted, that we will move the reef stars to the second site and expand from there. We still believe we will reach the second site in the future 🙏🏾 Inshallah we will get there. But for now, we welcome the reef stars to our first site and please send them your best wishes for a continous growth 🪸 #corals #zanzibar #coralrestoration #marineconservation #paditv
