COVID 19 is a HUGE issue in the GA PRISONs - GDC ... here’s one of the reasons why, see pictured here are all the inmates from various GA COUNTY JAILS being diagnostic at Jackson State Prison to be transferred to other GA PRISONS! There are NO social distancing policies being practiced or any being implemented. The COVID 19 cases in the prisons are SKY HIGH and the treatment of it is at the bare minimum. Family members of any GDC inmates put the PRESS on the GDC! ( the prison system and even the local jails are so overlooked in the voting process that’s why it’s crucial to vote on your local levels)

Los Angeles County’s Probation Department is facing controversy for defying a state order to close Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, which the California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) deemed “unsuitable” for housing youth. The BSCC ordered the facility to close after they found critical issues, including staffing shortages and inadequate rehabilitative programming. The larger juvenile justice system in Los Angeles County has long struggled with closure of facilities due to violence, mismanagement, and chronic staffing shortages. However, the county’s Probation Department has announced it will not comply with the order. This defiance has led to backlash from those who argue that continuing to operate the facility violates state law and causes harm to the young people in custody. As tensions rise, the future of Los Padrinos—and the youth it houses—remains uncertain.   Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall highlights a systemic failure in our approach to juvenile justice. While the BSCC points to staffing shortages as the reason for the facility’s dysfunction, this narrow view overlooks the deeper issues that need to be addressed. We must shift our focus to sustainable strategies that reduce the number of incarcerated youths. This begins with a commitment to investing in our communities. By increasing access to mental health services, educational programs, family support initiatives, and opportunities for economic stability, we can address the underlying factors that contribute to juvenile offenses, reducing the need for incarceration in the first place. Simultaneously, we must reassess the cases of those currently detained, exploring alternatives to incarceration such as restorative justice programs. For the youth who remain in detention, it is imperative to find more humane facilities where their developmental and rehabilitative needs can be met in a safe and supportive environment.   At @juvenileinjustice we are committed to advocating for systemic change that prioritizes the well-being and future of our youth over punitive measures. Only by addressing the root causes can we create a justice system that truly serves the best interests of children.
