In distributed systems, service discovery is the dynamic phonebook. 🔹 Services register themselves when they go online 🔹 Clients query the registry to locate services 🔹 Nodes can scale, crash, or move — and discovery keeps track Tools like Consul, etcd, and Kubernetes handle this automatically with health checks and load balancing. Without service discovery, systems would break under change. With it, they scale and adapt seamlessly. #security #system #databasesecurity #Technology #cloudcomputing #cloud #computer #technologies #code #software #technology #coding

THE SKY IS NOW PROGRAMMABLE This isn’t fireworks. It’s thousands of autonomous drones flying with centimeter precision and millisecond timing. Guangzhou runs one of the most advanced drone light shows on Earth. Each drone operates as part of a real-time swarm using GPS positioning, distributed computing, and collision-avoidance algorithms to stay perfectly synchronized. Dragons. Architecture. Animated symbols across the skyline. No explosions. No waste. Every show rewritten entirely through software. This is engineering, art, and code turning the sky into a reusable canvas. Computing as we know it uses 1’s and 0’s to complete functions. Quantum computation, however, takes on richer states that go far beyond just a simple 1 or 0. In our latest discovery, our Quantum AI researchers hit a breakthrough that significantly shifts how we understand and operate quantum computing. Just ask Yu Chen, Lead Scientist in Quantum Metrology, who breaks down the bits and bobs of an enhanced quantum computer. At the link in bio, learn more about our recent milestone.

773

Ceph is an open-source distributed storage system designed to provide highly scalable object, block, and file-based storage under a unified system. It was developed to address the growing need for scalable storage solutions in cloud computing environments, big data applications, and enterprise storage systems. Here are some key features and uses of Ceph in the technology business: ▎Key Features of Ceph: 1. Scalability: Ceph is designed to scale horizontally, meaning you can add more storage nodes to increase capacity and performance without downtime. 2. Fault Tolerance: It provides high availability and fault tolerance through data replication and erasure coding, ensuring data is preserved even in the event of hardware failures. 3. Unified Storage: Ceph supports multiple storage interfaces, including object storage (via RADOS Gateway), block storage (via RBD - RADOS Block Device), and file storage (via CephFS), allowing businesses to use a single system for various storage needs. 4. Self-Healing: The system automatically detects and recovers from failures, redistributing data as necessary to maintain redundancy and performance. 5. Open Source: Being open-source, Ceph allows businesses to customize the software to meet their specific needs without vendor lock-in. ▎Uses in Technology Business: 1. Cloud Infrastructure: Many cloud service providers use Ceph as the backend storage solution for their public or private cloud offerings, enabling them to provide scalable and reliable storage services. 2. Big Data Analytics: Ceph can handle large volumes of unstructured data, making it suitable for big data applications that require fast access to vast datasets. 3. Virtualization: Companies using virtualization technologies (like VMware or OpenStack) often integrate Ceph for block storage, providing persistent storage for virtual machines. 4. Backup and Archiving: Organizations can use Ceph for backup solutions due to its ability to scale and its data durability features, ensuring that critical data is safely stored and easily retrievable.

Microsoft just made a massive breakthrough that will change
98,631

Microsoft just made a massive breakthrough that will change technology forever. It’s called the Majorana 1, a quantum chip that’s the first of its kind in quantum computing. And what this thing can do is absolutely insane. Imagine a world where you could invent concrete that could heal itself. Or you could design a phone battery that could be charged one time, and then never run out of juice. That sounds like science fiction, but it’s not. This chip is gonna make it possible with quantum computing. Here’s how quantum computing works (ELI5). Imagine the process to invent the material for an infinite battery was actually a giant maze. If you solve the maze, you invent the formula for a new battery technology. A normal computer would have to try every single pathway in the maze, one at a time. And it could take centuries to find the right path all the way through. But a quantum computer works differently, because it can try every single path in the maze at the same time. This is essentially the difference between a bit and a qubit (the quantum bits that power quantum computers) Now this new Majorana chip has an architecture that can sustain up to 1 million qubits at the same time. That’s 1 million different pathways through the maze, every moment, until it’s solved. And what this means, is pretty incredible. When a scientist goes into a lab to create a material or a design new drug, they won’t need to run experiments. Because this chip will just give them the right answer the very first time. And It’s hard to wrap your head around what this means, but essentially, it’s new medicines, new iPhone screens that can never crack, new metals for planes that fly at supersonic speeds. Everything will change because of quantum computers. And we just entered the Quantum Era.
