One of ST Nikki’s favorite moments this week was seeing her patient’s face gleam with excitement when we used marshmallows to work on their tongue strengthening exercises. We used a pretzel and a marshmallow to work on tongue lateralization, elevation, and depression exercises. These exercises strengthen their tongue muscles to help them break down food and increased their speech intelligibility. This February, we ran our Half Term Camp across our Brentwood and Canary Wharf clinics delivering 93 therapy sessions and welcoming many new families into Unlocking Language. We worked with incredible children with: - Autism - AAC users -DLD - Speech sound difficulties - Our littlest toddlers just starting their communication journey But what made it truly special? Working alongside parents. Our holiday sessions are designed not just for children, but for families giving parents the opportunity to see how our sessions work, understand the strategies we use, and feel confident continuing support at home. To make therapy more accessible, we offer discounted sessions during holiday periods so more families can get the support they need. We are so proud of the impact we’ are making and this continues.
