This is not slow motion I was following the calf playing with a piece of shark… when suddenly, the mother was standing in front of us, motionless. My heart soared 🫶🏻😅 Nothing in slow motion, all real life. Turn on the sound 🔊 The incredible part: we shared this moment with locals who had never seen orcas — and who culturally associate them with fear. Goosebumps for everyone 😳✨ 👉 This unique encounter was possible with patience: we observed their behavior and the hunt using the hydrophone and drone, waited until they had eaten, and being the only boat, we gave them space and respect. #orca #orcinusorca #bajacaliforniasur #laventanabcs #aguaceaexplora #gopro

Did you know? 🐋⚡ Pilot whales are one of the top predators of orcas. They don’t hunt alone — they unite, surround, and protect their pods. In the ocean, strength isn’t just size… it’s unity. 🌊💙 #marinelife #orca #nature #ocean #whale

Orca × Shark Hybrid Evolution | Ultimate Ocean Apex What if evolution created the ultimate ocean predator? This video explores a speculative evolution concept where the intelligence, coordination, and dominance of an orca combine with the bite force, speed, and hunting instincts of a great white shark to form a completely new apex species. This orca × shark hybrid is not a real animal. It is a realistic visualization of how evolution might shape a future ocean dominator under extreme survival and environmental pressure. Power is expressed through mass, calm control, and water displacement rather than aggression or speed, creating an overwhelming presence in the open ocean. What should evolve next? Follow Apex Evolution for more speculative animal evolution, hybrid predators, and future wildlife concepts.

Can she see me? 👀 She did see me at first, but as she approached me, she used her nictitating membrane, also known as a third eyelid, to protect her eyes. Sharks also have other senses to guide them when they cannot see. Some species of sharks have this membrane and others don’t. It’s also not just shark specific. Many animals can have this membrane, such as birds, reptiles, amphibians, and some mammals. Pretty cool, huh? • • • #sharks #tiger #tigershark #biology #animals #fish #eyes #wild #wildlife #marinelife #dive #ocean #underwater #gopro #hawaii #shark

California Great White Sharks hit different… @californiawhitesharkproject 🫣🦈 #DevilsTeeth #abc4explore **I’m currently in Bimini, Bahamas leading Cinema Science Expeditions with the Great Hammerhead Sharks & my SharkFamily, but just had to repost this surreal shot from the Farallones!** Who’s below the surface? It’s Yvon Chouinard! We were delighted to see Yvon at the Farallones on Tuesday. We had a feeling it was him because of his distinctive age spots, blocky head, and size but needed to confirm the dorsal fin before sharing. Yvon was named after Patagonia’s founder Yvon Chouinard in honor of his demonstrated commitment to our environment. We first saw Yvon, the shark, in 2021. It is surprising to have first seen him so recently, as he is well over 75 years old. Yvon is an impressive 17 feet in length and was significantly ‘rotund’ on Tuesday. He did not make an appearance in our 2022 research season so we are glad to see he is alive and doing well in 2023. White sharks like Yvon are unprotected beyond our exclusive economic zone and continue to face threats such as poaching, orcas, and high seas fisheries. Yvon’s age and size provides invaluable insight into white shark metrics like growth rate which in turn can reflect the health of our ecosystem. Without our research, key members of the trophic food chain like Yvon could decline and scientists and stakeholders (you) would be unaware. We need YOUR support to continue researching sharks like Yvon. Please donate through the link in bio, everything goes directly to white shark research. The Legendary Great White Shark! Video courtesy of @abc4explore Follow @creatures_of_the_deep_ for more! This was just a decoy, but that makes the strike of the Great White no less impressive! Everything about these apex marine predators is perfected for their role in the ocean’s ecosystem. Their distinct patterning camouflages them from above and below, blending them into the sea’s surface and the underwater depths. This camouflage lets them ambush their prey with ease, leading to incredible shots like this!

WING HEAD SHARK A truly magical find today off Magnetic island A rarley seen, endangered winghead shark 🪽🦈 Like a hammerhead but with an elongated head This might be a 1st for Maggie!
