Imagine having a scan that can see what’s wrong with you directly at a cellular level! Hierarchical Phase-Contrast Tomography (HiP-CT) is an X-ray technique that might just be the answer! It decouples field of view and resolution to image anywhere in the human body with cellular (micron) resolution. Imaging areas can be full organs at a resolution of 25 micron or zoomed regions in these organs with resolutions between 6 and 0.6 micron, one hundred times the resolution of medical CT. Using a particle accelerator, the Human Organ Atlas is producing these 3D scans from HiP-CT of our organs in unprecedented detail. You can look through different layers of tissue and even zoom in on the cells for the heart, lungs, eyes, kidneys, and more. Please note that this imaging modality is only for research purposes and only on cadavers because of the high radiation dose but they are working on protocols to reduce it and make it clinically available. Typical hospital head CT brain absorbed dose: • ~30 to 60 mGy So the HiP-CT donor brain received: 🧠Whole brain average: ~3 to 8x a clinical head CT. 🧠Zoomed local areas: 50 to 500x+ Bottom line: 🧠Whole-organ pass: ~0.2 Gy 🧠Regional detail scans: ~2 Gy 🧠Micron zoom ROls: ~10 Gy or higher locally Media Credit: Claire L. 🤯 Have you ever had a CT scan? This is what’s happening on the inside of a CT machine every time a procedure is performed in a Radiology department. About 120-300 rotations per minute. CT machines use x-rays to create amazing cross-sectional images INSIDE of the body. The CT machine takes an x-ray exposure while spinning to create these images and that data is used to create “slices” throughout the anatomy scanned. Pretty amazing technology.

This image might look like a severe craniofacial trauma — but it’s actually not an injury at all. During a CT scan, the patient experienced a panic attack due to claustrophobia and moved rapidly while the scanner was capturing images. This caused a motion artifact, resulting in the distorted, “stretched” appearance of the skull and face on the scan. It’s a good reminder of how patient anxiety can impact imaging quality and why providing reassurance or mild sedation is sometimes necessary for claustrophobic patients. Wild how much an image can mislead without context, right?

Computed Tomography (CT) scan combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles with computer processing to create cross-sectional, 3D images of bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues. It is used to quickly diagnose injuries, tumors, infections, and internal bleeding. Patients lie on a table that slides into a rotating scanner for 10-15 minutes. #ctscan #medicine #viralreels #pharma #healthcare

What's the difference between MRI and CT? Here’s the breakdown ⬇️ ⚡ CT Scan: Uses X-rays to take multiple cross-sectional images of the body. It’s fast, great for emergencies, and especially useful for detecting bleeding, fractures, and lung or abdominal issues. 🧲 MRI: Uses magnets and radio waves instead of radiation. It takes longer, but it’s unmatched for looking at soft tissues — like the brain, spinal cord, muscles, and joints. 👉 Both are powerful tools in radiology, but doctors choose based on what they’re investigating. Would you have guessed they’re this different? 🤔 #Radiology #MRI #CTscan #MedicalEducation #HealthcareExplained #highdesert

MRI, CT Scan, and X-Ray may all look similar, but they reveal different things inside the human body. MRI shows soft tissues like the brain and muscles, CT scans detect internal injuries and bleeding, while X-rays are best for bones and lungs. Understanding the difference helps doctors diagnose problems faster and more accurately. #MedicalImaging #MRI #CTScan #Xray #Healthcare #MedicalFacts #alchetron #viral Read more : https://alchetron.com/Magnetic-resonance-imaging
