Belle da Costa Greene (1879-1950) was a remarkable librarian and curator who served as J.P. Morgan's personal librarian and the first director of the Morgan Library. Born Belle Marion Greener, she was the daughter of Richard Greener, the first African American graduate of Harvard. As Morgan's librarian, she became one of the most powerful art collectors in early 20th century America, helping build the Morgan's world-renowned collection of rare books and manuscripts. My team and I spent two unforgettable days at Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture (#NMAAHC), immersed in history and heart. Have you ever seen Christian Megert‘s work? I want to share more shorter videos of exhibitions I like. Editing 60-90 second reels with drawings and a voice over can just take super long and since I am working more this year, it’s easier for me to make shorter videos such as the one above. Today I went to Dierking gallery to visit the Christian Megert exhibition about his early work. The works are all from the 50s but look super contemporary. He is a Swiss artist who taught at the academy in Düsseldorf. In recent years he has kind of been forgotten about in Switzerland and I actually hadn‘t heard of him during my studies.
