I’m finishing and framing a few canvases this week. I have ordered these float frames from Jackson’s bespoke frame builder and love how simple they are to put together. I do have to make sure my measurements are just right and they are cut to size ready to put together with the Hoffam Dovetail Joints, I pre drill some holes in the back to attach them to the stretcher bars,I have allowed a .5 cm space all around so they will ‘float’ they are called flat frames or tray frames. I also use smaller canvases that come with a pre-made frame called a canvas set from Jackson’s. Sometimes I add another layer of white paint and a top coat of flat varnish to protect them. I do like the simplicity of a white frame, it’s very ‘St Ives’ and just finished off the painting. I am finishing 6 canvases to be released this Friday 7th March to my newsletter subscribers first.
