We broke ground in August of 2022, and finished building the end of May 2023. We got our certificate of occupancy and we were moved in by June 1st! My husband was the GC of our custom home build, it’s the first home we have built from the ground up, plenty of renovation projects throughout the years though. This is our dream home, we are in our 50’s, raised 4 kids, have scrimped and saved to build this home. It is a dream come true and we could not have done it without being the builder ourselves, it saved us a ton! We have been in it almost 3 years now, and I honestly still pinch myself! #homebuilding #homebuilders #customhome

What’s the one thing we regretted though? 😮‍💨 Taking two years to start 🤎 Coming from a subdivision home in the city with HOA, traffic and sharing fences. Not to mention, sharing a fence with a family whom we found out the dad was a child predator by police swarming the house one morning. I’m not knocking the city but country life is more our speed. 🪵 I’m not an interior designer and I had no clue what went into building a home, but that was a dark room I was willing to walk through. My husband and I I are building our 12,000 square ft dream custom home and here are more non negotiables.
