I’ve tried to summarise the main parts of my week in a minute. I obviously ran over…just a bit 😅 I spoke in the Dáil on two different debates, I questioned the Minister for Transport, questioned the climate change advisory council at committee, met with the CEO of Irish Rail, met with Conradh Na Gaeilge, and with Spunout, got to see our brilliant Labour Cllr Pamela Kearns get elected Mayor of South Dublin, and checked out the new Priory Market in Tallaght. These are just the highlights of the week and I didn’t even include Pride on Saturday or speaking to the media on the Plinth at Leinster House on Tuesday - and all of the work we do in the constituency. Today I introduced the Criminal Law (Prohibition of the Disclosure of Counselling Records) Bill that is aiming to ban the use of counselling notes in gender based violence. Counselling notes have no evidential value and only lead to victims being re-traumatized. This Bill needs to be passed to prevent this from happening. Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has said that Opposition parties were currently reviewing their stance on a motion of no confidence in Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy, following her handling of proceedings in the Dáil this afternoon. Speaking on RTÉ’s Six One News she said: “Nobody observing today’s business could have had any confidence in the way in which the Ceann Comhairle conducted herself. There is no question, very, very substantial damage has been done to that office and to her standing.” The Dáil was suspended earlier today after a chaotic row over speaking rights.
