My 4th and 5th grade classes LOVED coding @wonderworkshop Dash to launch a basketball! Students used trial and error to properly code and distance Dash launching a basketball into the hoop. They recorded their data and made adjustments in real time based on the information they learned. I’ve worked with instilling in my students all year that mistakes are ok, failure is ok, we learn from those failures to lead us to success. Seeing how excited they were when they scored their first basket was everything! I loved how they extended their knowledge after making a basket to add dance moves, step backs, and more fancy shots!! 10/10 would recommend!! #wonderworkshop #robotics #stem #stemlessons #computerscienc #iteachtoo #teachergram #teachersofinstagram #basketball #learningisfun #studentengagement

From just playing with LEGO bricks ——to——> building robots that can move, sense, and even interact with their environment. In @schoolofrobotics, Brayden’s learning so much more than just how to build stuff. He picks up real problem-solving skills, logical sequencing, and even a bit of engineering and math along the way. Every lesson comes with fun missions, like making solar panels spin clockwise and anti-clockwise. A grocery-shopping robot that walks around until a sensor detects something. And a rover can conquers uneven surfaces with ease. It’s all done with a super-friendly, drag-and-drop coding interface that makes it feel more like play than work. It’s amazing to see how his creativity and confidence are growing with every challenge! The dot product 💡 This is a new series I am experimenting with explaining certain operations we use a lot in making video games you might never knew, or are worth studying if you aspire to become a game developer. With today's topic: the dot product. 🤩 You might not realize it, but the dot product is everywhere in games. It powers lighting calculations, determines how steep a slope is, drives physics interactions, improves AI behavior, influences player movement, and so much more. So how does it work? 🤔 At its core, the dot product is a way to measure the similarity of two directions. Mathematically, it multiplies two vectors and produces a single number: 🔸 A positive value means they are pointing roughly in the same direction. 🔸 A negative value means they are pointing opposite each other. 🔸 A value near zero means they are perpendicular. This simple operation unlocks countless possibilities in game development making it an extremely useful operation and definitely worth studying! See you in next week's episode! 🤩 Happy coding everyone! 👨💻 ~ Follow for game development and programming content! 🤩 @justinbieshaar . . 🏷️ #gamedev #dotproduct #programming #mathematics #math #coding #maths #physics #science #programmer #gamedeveloper #gameprogramming #indiedev #swe #stem
