DAYLIGHT > “SUNLIGHT” VIEWING • - I know I’m a repeating record on encouraging everyone to view morning sunlight (and if possible also evening sunlight). But…There are just so many benefits of doing so n your daytime mood, focus and alertness and nighttime sleep, and immune system, and more. - One thing I regret, however, is calling it “sunlight” because even though that’s accurate, whenever it’s overcast, people think they can’t take advantage of this very important protocol. The better word is daylight. - Because as you know, there’s lots of daylight even when there’s cloud cover. Think how much brighter it is on an overcast morning versus at night. - And while the contrast between yellows and blues that you see when the sun is low in the sky and there are no clouds is the *optimal signal* for setting your circadian clock and spiking your morning cortisol (both of which are great for you!), when it’s overcast, you just need to be outside a little bit longer… you’ll still glean a lot of benefits from the daylight you see. - The rest of the details on this protocol- don’t wear sunglasses or a brimmed hat while you do it, but eyeglasses are OK, blink to protect eyes etc are in the video. - You’ll be amazed at the positive impact on your health and well-being if you make it a point to view bright light, ideally from sunlight in the first hour of your day.
