The overnight storm has rippled into flight cancellations and delays throughout the northeast, with DCA reporting more cancelled than on time flights. The FlightAware tracker is reporting more than 5,300 cancellations within, into, or out of the US today. This ranks the DC area third in number of cancellations. Boston and New York are the only two cities reporting more cancellations. Advice remains to check with your airline before heading to the airport to make sure you’re not stranded. Some airlines are waiving change fees.

🚨✈️ FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS are filling up departure boards at airports across the Northeast on Sunday… but will Washington’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) see ZERO inbound & outbound flights because of the snowstorm? It happened after January’s snow/ice storm. But this time around? Probably not. • • • • • #snow #winter #travel #dca #flight

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to limit daily flight operations at Chicago O'Hare International Airport to 2,800 for the Summer 2026 season, down from approximately 3,080 currently scheduled. This reduction of about 280 flights per day aims to address capacity and safety concerns amid a surge in scheduling by United Airlines and American Airlines. This surge is driven by competition between the two carriers to secure additional gates under the 2018 Airline Use and Lease Agreement. United plans to operate up to 750 daily flights to gain six extra gates, while American maintains over 500 daily flights to protect its current gate allocation. The FAA will negotiate with airlines in early March 2026 to finalize these limits, which will remain through October 25, 2026. The FAA's intervention follows operational challenges seen at Newark Liberty International Airport in 2025, where overscheduling caused significant delays. While the cap should improve on-time performance and reduce cancellations, it may also lead to fewer available seats and potential fare increases. Passengers should monitor their itineraries closely for possible rebookings or refunds. #FAA #UnitedAirlines #ChicagoO'Hare Link in Bio <--

A Delta flight was forced to head back to Houston on Wednesday morning after a passenger reportedly acted disruptively, according to officials.

Delta Air Lines is experiencing significant disruptions, with cancellations hitting triple digits over the weekend. The airline had 511 cancellations and 565 delays, primarily due to winter weather at its Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta hub. Concerns are growing about a potential partial government shutdown, which could exacerbate flight disruptions. Delta has offered limited-time rebooking options for passengers affected by snowy conditions and is working to minimize disruptions. Other airlines, like American Airlines and Spirit Airlines, are also facing cancellations and delays. The situation is fluid, with airlines and airports working to resolve disruptions and restore normal operations.
