Lineart tips for both digital and traditional art 👇 1️⃣ Vary your lines : if you find your linework stiff, it’s probably because you use the exact same line weight everywhere. Vary the size and the drakness of your lines to add depth and movement to your drawings. 2️⃣ Proritize dynamic strokes : I know, Reels often shows artists drawing long smooth lines. But the truth is, you’ll get a better and more consistent result if you keep your gesture dynamic. 3️⃣ Clean your lines : consider your eraser as another pen/brush ! Use your eraser as often as necessary to build up your lines and keep it clear. For traditional drawings, I highly recommand getting a precision eraser. Found this useful ? What is Linear Regression? It’s one of the simplest ML models. The goal is to find a line that best fits the data. That line helps predict values. Example: More experience → Higher salary More area → Higher house price The model learns the trend and draws the best prediction line. That’s Linear Regression. The tangent line is the ultimate mathematical "close-up." It captures the instantaneous direction of a curve at a single, specific point. As you noted, the magic of this concept lies in local linearity—the fact that even the most complex curves look like straight lines if you zoom in far enough. ### 1. The concept of local linearity If you look at a circle from a distance, it is clearly curved. However, if you are an ant standing on the edge of that circle, the ground beneath your feet feels flat. * The zoom effect: In calculus, we say a function is differentiable if it looks like a straight line when magnified. The tangent line is simply the unique straight line that has the exact same slope as the curve at that precise point of contact. * Best linear approximation: Because the tangent line stays as close to the curve as possible near the point of contact, we use it to simplify complex calculations. It is much easier to work with a straight line than a curving equation. ### 2. From average to instantaneous To find the tangent line, we use the derivative. This is the mathematical bridge that turns an average rate of change into an instantaneous one. * The secant line: Imagine picking two points on a curve and drawing a line between them. This gives you an average slope. * The limit: As you slide those two points closer and closer together until they are virtually on top of one another, the secant line transforms into the tangent line. * The result: The slope of the tangent line tells you exactly how fast the function is increasing or decreasing at that one specific moment. In 3 dimensions, linear regression can be represented using planes. Extending to even higher dimensions, linear regression would fit a n-dimensional hyperplane to our data. To train our model or to fit the plane to our high dimensional data, we require calculus and linear algebra. We also need a metric to determine how good our plane is. This metric is called the loss function, and is typically the mean-squared error (MSE) or equivalents. In the training process, we feed input data to the model, producing an output, then measuring the difference between the predicted and real outputs. We take this difference (loss) and use an optimization technique like gradient descent to tweak the parameters that make up the plane. This shifts the steepness and position of the plane. By using the chain rule in calculus, we are able to update our parameters slowly and iteratively, shifting the line closer and closer to the data. We stop training when our model/plane has converged or does not change much from iteration to iteration. Want to Learn ML/AI?
