Hyderabad-based Cosmoserve Space just partnered with Pixxel to build the satellite bus for their upcoming active space debris removal technology demonstration mission. The founder of Cosmoserve Space, Dr. Chiranjeevi Phanindra B, is an ex-ISRO scientist. For this partnership, Pixxel is going to be bringing their satellite platform which has been used for six Firefly hyperspectral satellites. Cosmoserve Space, on the other hand, is going be bringing their proprietary robotic capture and removal system. Cosmoserve Space also just successfully completed their Critical Design Review for this soft robotic capture system. This system uses soft robot petals to capture satellites. This system passed the thermo-vaccum test and the vibration test too.
