I look like Cruella DeVilles sister with this outfit 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ 🐩. And my 2.5yr old is pretending to be a “baby” for this video. Anyway, the truth is carrying a car seat sucks! Your back is always kinked to the side, your hips shift out, & your reaching & staining. All the above causes Mama neck & back pain. So here are some car seat carrying tips 🤗 and for my postpartum mamas I did a whole podcast (Make is Simple) episode on my best postpartum tips when it comes to nurition & fitness! Links for listening are in my bio & if you did hear it what did you think? Ok, now to the car seat tips: ✅Stop reaching- Anytime you are lifting ANYTHiNG you want to keep it as close to the body as possible. The more distal you are the more strain it adds on the back/core & post baby those are already weak areas. So get close & use two hands. ✅ Stop lifting with a curved back & use your lower body. Along with getting close you want to use your legs/glutes to pick that cute baby up. Put the empty seat on an elevated surface. Squat down & pick up your baby! Stop bending forward with a curved back. Stand using your legs/glutes! Buckle the baby in on the elevated surface use your legs again to pick up & go. ✅ Stop shifting your hips & kinking to one side. When the carseat is heavy we try to support the weight by kicking out a hip! That is hard on your back & neck and offers no support from your inner core. It’s going to create imbalances so hold it straight in front or with your arm all the way through so the seat is against your evenly stacked Hips. May sound weird but carrying my twins carseats was almost easier because my weight was evenly distributed. Even though I arrived very sweaty everywhere I went 😂. ✅Lasty, when possible put the car seat in a stroller or cart.
