hEDS shows up in weird ways… and not just in our poppy-clicky joints! 🩻 poor proprioception, sensitive gums, slight subluxations and muscle weakness all play a role in our body’s patterns… 🧩 i always encourage clients to tell me everything, even if they think it’s “weird”. chances are, it could be a part of their diagnostic picture. 🙂‍↕️ want to learn more about diagnosing hEDS? i’ve got you. check out my website for more information and a place to book a free consultation! 💛 💻 loveandlightwellnessvt.com #heds #pots #mcas #chronicpain #diagnosis

If this can reach even just one person. So they don’t have to find out in a small room at the radiology clinic, alone, from a radiologist with no social skills and the day before a long weekend. Then sharing my vulnerability to the world will all be worth it. Bring someone xxx #diagnosis #dontdoitalone #mri #tumor #needahug

A lot of people have asked what her symptoms were and how we finally found out. We had been to the ER multiple times and every time were told the same thing, constipation. Just poop. Do a clean out, give it time. And we did, because you want to trust the people who are supposed to know. But that last trip felt different. I said, we’ve been here multiple times and I know it’s not just poop. Something is wrong, and I’m not leaving until we figure it out. For the first time, they really looked. They ran labs and did an ultrasound and that changed everything. Her labs were not normal. She was severely anemic. Her white count was high. Her liver numbers were elevated. And her AFP (tumor marker) was over 200,000. (That’s how high the machine went. It could have been way higher) The ultrasound showed a tumor. A CT confirmed it—on her liver, 20 cm. Thank God it hadn’t metastasized. Looking back, the signs feel so obvious. Constant gagging, sensitive to smells, a distended belly with visible veins, pale stool, red nail beds, waking up sweating, twisting in pain, distant, not wanting to play. Random neck pain that we later learned was the tumor pressing on an artery. A bone that broke easily because the tumor was pulling calcium from her body. At the time, none of it felt connected. It was easy to explain away when you’re being told everything is fine. But it wasn’t. I’ve kicked myself for not putting it together sooner, for not fighting harder. But I also know I didn’t ignore it. I kept going back. And that day, I didn’t back down. That’s the day we got our answer. It was never just poop. #childhoodcancer #diagnosis #symptoms

Always trust your mom gut. When I saw her first seizure my stomach dropped, but I convinced myself I was seeing things. The second time it happened I wanted to go straight to the hospital, but she was going to have a check up later that week anyway and I knew no doctor would take me seriously if I didn't have a video. I sent the video to my MIL (an ER nurse) and she wasn't initially worried. I convinced myself again that I was being dramatic but kept sending her the videos as the episodes happened. She sent the videos to colleagues with more experience with infants and called me back urging me to go to the children's ER right away. Our doctors were amazing and didn't make me feel dramatic at all. They ordered tests right away and she seized after just 5 min on the EEG confirming epilepsy. 2 hours later she was on Keppra and hasn't had a seizure since. It took another two months for us to get her genetic results. #epilepsy #stxbp1 #latenightfinds #motherhood #ER

This goes out to everyone along the way who told me I was lazy, dramatic, difficult, too sensitive, or wasting my potential (especially teachers and exes): For most of my life, I genuinely believed something was wrong with me. I never felt like I fit in anywhere 🥲 I’ve always been able to function, but often only in short bursts. I could be high-performing one minute and completely overwhelmed the next. High school was an absolute nightmare because I just couldn’t manage the constant switching from one subject to another 😵‍💫 Over the past months, I finally started looking into it seriously. I filled out questionnaires, took notes about my childhood, had insanely long conversations, and second-guessed myself the entire time. A big part of me was scared they’d say: you’re fine. There’s nothing wrong. You’re making it all up 🚩 But yesterday I finally got my answer. I was diagnosed with ADHD and autism!! I felt insane relief and joy. Not because I’m happy to have a condition, but because suddenly my life wasn’t a collection of personal failures anymore 🥺 There are actual, clinical reasons for basically every struggle I’ve ever dealt with. For 32 years, I’ve been navigating a world that wasn’t built for my brain without knowing it but now I do know and I see that as my new superpower 💪🏻 But I also felt anger and sadness. Because it you have either of my conditions as a woman, it almost always takes your own initiative to finally shed light on it. I first was diagnosed with depression over 10 years ago which was a direct result of being constantly overwhelmed. I could have known this for over a decade but instead I was prescribed antidepressants and sent away. There‘s still so much work to be done to change this ❤️‍🩹 P.S.: Thank you to the people in my life who have always supported me on this journey and never once doubted me. You know who you are ❤️ #audhd #diagnosis #adhdinwomen

1,735,895

Healing from a C-section is painful but nothing compares to the pain of not being able to comfort your own baby. Watching doctors use an eyelid speculum to hold her eye open so they can examine it, hearing her scream, seeing how uncomfortable she is, and just having to stand there because it needs to be done. Even with numbing drops it doesn’t take the moment away. And then after anesthesia when she wakes up disoriented, crying, and nothing you do settles her right away. That kind of helplessness is a different kind of pain. This is the part of motherhood I never expected. The strength it takes to stay steady while your baby goes through hard things. What I would've done to take away all pain she was feeling. That kind of helplessness stays with you. Staying home started as a choice to raise our daughter but now it’s so much more. #csectionmom #diagnosis #motherhoodunplugged #pfv

Just because my ultrasounds and blood tests were clear, even when my MRI didn’t show the full picture. It doesn’t mean nothing was wrong. Endometriosis unfortunately comes with a fight to be believed. A fight to be heard. A fight to have your pain taken seriously when the evidence isn’t always visible on scans. But clear results don’t cancel real symptoms. Invisible doesn’t mean imaginary. To anyone still searching for answers: trust your body, trust your experience, and keep advocating for yourself 💛 #endometriosis #chronicpain #womenshealthmatters #diagnosis
