The 4 tools that built my $5k portfolio project (why I ditched Dribbble & ChatGPT): Here's what most designers do wrong: ❌ Browse Dribbble for hours (pretty but not practical) ❌ Use ChatGPT (good, but Claude is better for depth) ❌ Start from scratch (waste of time) ❌ Send static PDFs/Prototype link (clients want to see you can build) Here's what I did instead: 1️⃣ Godly.website → Real portfolio sites, not just shots → Filter by category, study the best, steal the structure → Found 10 patterns in 30 minutes 2️⃣ Figma + Community UI Kits → Why reinvent the wheel? → Grabbed a clean kit, customized it → Saved 12+ hours 3️⃣ Claude AI (over ChatGPT) → Better for long-form writing → Generated: problem statements, user personas, case study framework from the content i gave it → Looked senior-level from day one 4️⃣ Framer Free → Shipped a live portfolio, not a PDF → Client could click through everything → This alone closed the deal Result: Built in 1 week.
