The cold never bothered her anyways- but the sleeves did- lol ❄️ We let her choose by eye movements, by showing her 2 options and then letting her show which one she gravitates to. She chose Elsa BUT when we got in the dressing room, those sleeves weren’t working with us. Lolol so we had to pivot. My wheelchair was dropped off the conveyor while removing it from the airplane. I have a speaking engagement at University of Wisconsin La Crosse tomorrow and I flew into Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport today and @delta totaled my wheelchair. I am stranded in the airport while they try to find a replacement for my custom power wheelchair that costs tens of thousands of dollars. They called it an "incident." All I can do is weep and be grateful my husband is with me. I don't know how I'm getting to Wisconsin. I don't know how I'm getting in bed tonight. I don't know how I'm getting home. In 2023, I became wheelchair dependent after a combination of disease progression and a brain injury. When we got home from the hospital, we started the process of asking for a ramp to be built at my school. The school was small (40 kids) At first we were told It would be too much money. We offered to pay. Then she said I would need to prove my need. (I am wheelchair dependent) Next, she tried to tell us that two teenage boys should lift me up and down 6 steps of stairs, multiple times a day. That was her solution. We said that wasn’t a safe option and didn’t preserve my dignity. There was more than this. Quite a bit actually. But at the end of the journey, she said she had to think of the needs of the other children. This is a school that prides itself on inclusion, but apparently, only when it’s easy. Inclusion when it’s hard is what actually matters. She also suggested I crawl up the steps. That isn’t doable. It’s hard enough at my sister’s school to transfer out and climb up two steps. 6 steps would be impossible. Plus they were steep. The fight for accessibility and inclusion still is continuing in 2026. This particular fight reminded me of the capitol craw in 1990. #Accessibility #inclusion #disability #wheelchair #fyp

I know he didn't mean anything by it. It probably was just an awkward way of asking if I could answer for myself. But people being awkward just reminds me that they don't see people like me very often. It's just weird because I see me all the time. People like me are still hidden from everybody except the specialists. We're working on changing that, follow along to learn how.
