When Scripture talks about discerning of spirits, I actually think we're discerning of the human spirit, we're discerning of ancestral spirits, we're discerning of demon spirits. The church often teaches it as discerning behavior, so it's actually not supernatural. Discerning of spirits is actually discerning of spirits. What spirit's in operation? Occult spirit, grave spirit, trauma spirit, demons, human spirit, personalities, ancestral stuff. You're actually discerning spirits, not behavior. When you're doing deliverance, a part will often look up at you and say things like "I'm scared. Why did they do that to me?" And I will say, "Will you let Jesus help you? Will you let Jesus heal you?" Because I'm doing deliverance—I am not necessarily going to go for full healing of all life's pain. I'm writing this down, documenting these things, making sure I'm being effective. But I want to eradicate the demon. We can eradicate the demon behind the part. Then people that work in inner healing can actually walk through and bring more healing. It's going to be necessary. But few are actually able to get to the demons behind the part. So when I do deliverance, I do deliverance. I only do enough inner healing to expose the demon behind it, get it out, and then I let those who have that deep passion walk with them in a shepherding capacity through inner healing. Here is every mention of Jesus discerning someones intentions or hearing their thoughts… John 2:24-25 John 6:61 John 13:11 Matthew 9:4 Matthew 12:25 Matthew 22:18 Mark 2:6-8 Luke 5:22 Luke 6:8 Luke 9:47 Luke 11:17 This is the Gospel, the life of Jesus. Moments of red text where he is quoted. Because he knows who he is, his heart is pure. So therefore he didn’t gaslight himself and reduce his discernment to “that conversation just made me feel icky”. He heard Simons inner critic questioning Jesus for allowing a sinful woman to pour out her love and perfume on Jesus’ feet. And he then responded and corrected the THOUGHT HE HEARD! If you are teaching the word of God this is a very important lesson because many in the body are being villainized but they are in fact hearing right. If you are hearing teaching about what voices to listen to that doesn’t explain discernment then you are hearing teaching from those that would seek to make you question yourself rather than their heart, intentions, critical and accusatory thoughts. Keep in mind that Jesus Had one encounter with Satan before he entered ministry. From that point on the negative voices were that of self righteous religious people. Therefore it is not black or white. The angel on your shoulder or the devil in your ear. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit you will in fact and biblically proven also be aware of the motives and heart postures of those around you. And not everything you are perceiving should be reduced to you being unhealthy or unhealed and so therefore you are slanting negatively. Trust your gut, Talk to God and move accordingly and quietly protecting your heart by creating relational boundaries. Many traveled with Jesus but only 3 were invited in to witness his most vulnerable moments. Loyalty is Beautiful #Loyalty is beautiful until it starts costing you your #peace. Sometimes the people we feel most loyal to are the very ones draining our energy, dismissing our boundaries, or pushing us to compromise our values. Protecting your peace doesn’t mean you stop caring; it means you start #discerning. You can be loyal without tolerating disrespect, without funding someone else’s bad habits, and without sacrificing your mental, emotional, or financial stability. If someone consistently oversteps your boundaries, pressures you, or makes you question your worth, that’s not loyalty. It’s #inertia. Growth requires momentum. And sometimes momentum means reevaluating who gets access to your time, energy, and resources.
