Self cut pixie haircut! #pixiecut #diy This was one the the trickiest hair re-styles I ever attempted because of both the skills required and semi-danger that it came with. Do this at your own risk. I attempted this with a 3 mirror/monitor setup and I felt confident in my skill to not cut myself (too gravely) and to get a decent enough job done. Here’s how I did the top of last week’s pixie post. ❤️😊✂️ ⠀ ⠀ Back: 1. Take a section down the middle 2. Decide how long and where you’d like the hair on top to fall. I wanted it to fall disconnected from the hair on the bottom. 3. Use that length as a guide to cut perpendicular to the floor. 4. Use that first section as a guide for the rest of the hair in the back. I used a traveling guide. ⠀ Front: 1. Take a section down the middle 2. Take some hair from the very front. Decide how long and where you’d like it to fall. 3. Take some hair from back to use a guide. 4. Figure out where it is easiest to connect those two lengths. 5. Connect the dots. 6. Use that section as a guide for the rest of the hair in front. ⠀ Sides: 1. The hair falling over the sides was too disconnected for my liking. To lessen the disconnection, I used the length of the hair on the very top as a guide to cut perpendicular to the floor. 2. I started by the ear. I worked my way towards the front. Then I went back to the ear and worked by way towards the back. 3. I did the same thing on the other side. ⠀ Detail & Style: 1. I shaped and detailed the perimeters of the pixie 2. Blowdry 3. I tucked the hair behind the ear, leaving some hair out by the side burns. ⠀ ⠀ Change up the lengths to your client’s liking. Keep the entire cut connected instead of disconnected. Use a stationary guide instead of traveling. Point cut afterwards or don’t. There’s so many different ways to customize this further for your client.
