Brighton Dam Azalea Garden in Brookeville just hit peak bloom and we’re talking 22,000 azalea bushes across 5 acres of hardwood forest. It’s completely free, it’s stunning, and it only lasts a few weeks. Here’s everything you need to know before you go 👇 🗓 When to go: NOW through early May. Peak bloom is expected May 2–9 so this weekend and next week are your window. ⏰ Best time of day: Weekdays between 8am and 11am. Less crowded and the light is gorgeous for photos. 🚗 Parking heads up: Get there early or you’ll find yourself parking on the side of the road. It gets packed fast on weekends. There’s a visitor center with parking right across from the garden entrance. 📸 No photo permit required for personal visits. Just show up and shoot. No drones allowed (my aerials were captured when they were allowed). 🐦 Bonus: Keep an eye out for Baltimore Orioles. They’ve been spotted in the tall trees during bloom season. 🐾 No pets allowed. Just three miles outside of Washington DC is a huge tulip field with 13,000 colorful tulips. The fields lay at the foot of the Netherlands Carillon, a 127 foot-tall bell tower gifted by the people of the Netherlands to the U.S. as a symbol of gratitude for aid during and after World War II. There are 4.5 million daffodils blooming across Detroit right now! 🌼💯 Daffodils only bloom for a short window, so now is the time to see them across Detroit. ⏳ And this is the largest number of daffodils Detroit has had yet. In 2025, the city reached 4 million planted with hundreds of thousands more bulbs added for this season. This has been made possible with more than a decade of work by the City of Detroit’s General Services Department Floriculture Division @detroitgsd as well as Daffodils4Detroit, which have been steadily and proudly tending to and growing these displays since 2014. 🪏 The key to this program being successful year after year stems not only from the planting done by GSD’s Floriculture Division, but the Ground Maintenance Division too. Their mowing teams mow the daffodils down after blooming, to ensure they return for the next season. 🌱 Daffodil Hill on the east side of @belleisleconservancy is a beautiful and unique space to see them. Daffodils are also blooming across multiple areas of Detroit including Jayne Playground, Gabriel Richard Park, LaSalle Park, and of course all around Belle Isle. You can see them all while looping the island on the new trail Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Trail that opened last year. 🚶🚲 When visiting be respectful of the space while walking through and taking any photos/videos.
