I came to court today for one reason only to stand beside my husband while they sentenced the mother of his child. We knew she was facing time, but none of us were ready for what the judge actually gave her. Watching him say goodbye, knowing it might be 15-to-life before she ever walks out again, broke something in both of us. I held him after the verdict because no matter what their history is, she’ll always be the woman who gave him his first child, and that bond is real. People forget that co-parenting takes grown folks, not ego, and he’s always been the type to show up. So I showed up for him. I’ll always support him through anything, the same way he supports everything I do that’s what marriage is supposed to look like, even when it makes other people uncomfortable.

This whole moment felt like a dream. I even had him pinch me later on because none of it felt real. I had to do a triple take!! One thing that will always stick with me is what he told me on the drive home. He told me that when he was on his way to pick me up he looked up to the sky and told my Dad, “you better paint it pretty for her tonight”. That was so special to me because not only was it the prettiest sunset of the week, but I knew my Dad could see me from heaven and I knew God was allowing him to see this moment. Him painting that sky felt like his heavenly blessing over our marriage.

Watching a movie on the plane to Berlin and it just hit me out of nowhere. 😭😭 Not a line. Not a scene. Just the weight of it all. Three siblings. Time passing.
