A miracle in the ocean just reappeared.. In the waters of Algoa Bay, the rare albino bottlenose dolphin known as **"Popcorn"** has been spotted again after vanishing for months. Once feared vulnerable due to its striking white coloration, Popcorn has now defied the odds- surviving, growing, and thriving within a massive pod of around **600 dolphins**. Experts from Raggy Charters originally identified Popcorn as a calf in 2023 and feared the worst after the long absence. But this recent sighting tells a different story-strong, healthy, and fully integrated into dolphin society. Today felt like a dolphin takeover 🌊 We had humpback whales, huge pods of playful Pacific white-sided dolphin, rare Northern right whale dolphin (the only dolphin with no dorsal fin 😮), and even a nursing pod. Best moment? Spotting a baby Risso’s dolphin still showing fetal folds — the lines calves are born with from being folded inside mom, which fade fast… meaning this little one is brand new to the ocean. This mumma dolphin was so proud of her beautiful new baby she had to bring it right over and show us 🩵🌊🐬 They were so far out but she made a point to swim fast to catch up to us to bring her baby along side us. It really did feel like she was saying, hey you! look at my baby isn’t she amazing! I made this! Yes mumma dolphin she is absolutely beautiful and amazing ✨🥹🫶🏽 What is it about dolphins that makes them so frickin special!!?? This little hidden gem sits just off the coast near St Pete and right now the water clarity is at some of the best levels we have ever seen here, maybe ever. We are talking crystal clear, calm, and so impossibly blue it genuinely looks like the Bahamas. And here is the thing, this does not last forever. Once rainy season hits the water gets murky and this view disappears. Right now though you can literally stand on the beach and watch dolphins and stingrays swimming beneath the surface with your own eyes.
