Sometimes the simplest games are doing the most behind the scenes. 🎲✨ Rolling a dice, counting the dots, and circling the matching group might look basic… but this little activity is building: ✔️ One-to-one correspondence ✔️ Early number sense ✔️ Visual discrimination ✔️ Fine motor control ✔️ Working memory ✔️ Impulse control That’s a LOT for one piece of paper and a dice. And the best part? It feels like a game. Not “school.” Not pressure. Just playful learning. If you ever wonder, “Is this actually helping?” — I promise you, yes. Preschoolers learn best through repetition, hands-on play, and small moments like this. You don’t need fancy materials. You just need intention. 💛 Save this for later and try it this week. #playbasedlearning #preschoolathome #earlymathskills #kindergartenreadiness #learnthroughplay

What does playing hands-on games do for 5-year-olds? It builds the brain from the outside in. Here’s what’s really happening when a 5-year-old is touching, moving, stacking, sorting, and playing. It anchors learning in the body At five, thinking isn’t floating yet. It lives in hands, eyes, and movement. When kids move objects, numbers stop being abstract and start being real. One block. Two blocks. Three blocks. The brain believes what the hands confirm. It strengthens number sense Hands-on games help kids: • Understand quantity, not just count words • See order and sequence • Notice patterns • Compare more vs less This is the foundation math stands on later. Without it, everything wobbles. It regulates emotions Play lowers pressure. When learning feels like a game, the nervous system stays calm, curiosity stays online, and meltdowns lose their grip. Calm brains learn better. Always. It builds confidence without performance There’s no spotlight in play. No “right answer” anxiety. Just experimenting, adjusting, and trying again. That’s how persistence grows quietly. It supports attention and memory Hands-on play: • Extends focus naturally • Improves working memory • Helps kids remember concepts longer Movement acts like a bookmark for the brain. They’ve done it again! I trust @hand2mindinc @littlemindsatworkblog with all things so I’m not surprised these games are perfect! 😍 Does your center time need a refresh? Do you have game pieces and parts scattered from here to 3 schools ago? 🤦♀️(no judgement). Do yourself a favor and get reorganized with some engaging reading and math games for your primary kiddos! One activity. Three different learning levels. I love creating activities that work for multiple ages so everyone can feel included. Toddlers practiced color recognition by matching the dot markers to the colored dots. Preschoolers matched the dots too, but also worked on letter recognition by placing the correct lowercase letter sticker onto the uppercase letter. Kindergarteners still had fun with the dot matching, but added early math by using stickers to solve simple equations. Same activity. Different skills. Everyone learning through play. #learningthroughplay #toddleractivities #preschoolactivities #kindergartenlearning #craftymom

A simple invitation that builds so many early math skills. 🌈 In this activity, children match the UNO card number to the rainbow section, then use dot markers to represent the quantity. While it may look like simple play, children are developing important early numeracy foundations. Through hands-on exploration, children practice: • Number recognition • One-to-one correspondence (connecting a number to a quantity) • Color matching and visual discrimination • Fine motor development through dotting • Early mathematical thinking through active, play-based learning Research in early childhood education consistently shows that children learn math best through interactive, meaningful experiences, where they can see, touch, and represent numbers in different ways. Play is powerful learning. 🌈 #playbasedlearning #earlymathskills #learningthroughplay #preschoolactivities #lovebloomlearn

I learned this game from a math coach when I was teaching first grade. It’s perfect for one kiddo and amazing for small groups as well. Follow for more simple play and learn ideas that you can set-up in 5 minutes or less. Put dots all over your paper. Roll the die. Circle that many dots. It’s subitizing. It’s counting. It’s visual-spatial skills. It’s all the things and it’s fun!

Imagine 20–30 minutes of calm, focused play while you get things done ☕ This Sorting Game does it: 15 themes (pets, toys, veggies, transport, shapes, emotions…) – printable, laminate, reuse forever. No prep, no mess, huge development boost. Busy moms’ favorite → link in bio 👆 #reels #printableactivities #preschoollearning #schoolathome #kindergartenactivities

Fun numbers matching game 🌼👀 Draw a simple grid, add 1–6 dots in each square, write the numbers on clear magnets, and let them match away! 🤍 Hands-on learning that feels like play and wipes clean in seconds 🤩✨ #learningthroughplay

A new counting game — learning numbers легко, through play and with joy! 🎲✨ Building attention, logic, and a love for math from an early age. #kidslearning #countinggame #mathforkids #preschoollearning #learningthroughplay counting, numbers, early math, learning through play, school readiness, thinking skills development.

Have you checked out these new game trays from @hand2mind and @Little Minds at Work?! Each set comes with 6 trays each with a special compartment for game pieces. 36 double sided game boards makes this the perfect center! Each student can all play the same game, or easily differentiate instruction and have everyone play at a level (or a different game!) that caters to them. My favorite part about this is that math is also included! This really is a one stop shop for center and small group fun! #teacher #teachersofinstagram #teachergram #teach #igteachers #kindergarten #teachertribe #hand2mind #kindergartenresources #smallgroup #literacy #math

these three activities have been big hits at our house lately, I swear my kids don’t even know they’re learning while playing. Mention PRESCHOOL and I’ll send you the links. I love that these use the tongs for some extra fine motor skills and hand eye coordination practice (and my kids always thing it’s that much more fun with them) My 2 year old son loved the color recognition and my 4 year old daughter loved the counting and letter practice!
