Used all my favorite white pens and markers to create this patchwork pattern. This is a fun way to try out lots of different mark making tools. Watch my new YouTube video to see all my must-have mark making tools, including all these white options! 🤍 Link in bio 🤍 #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

Cheat day! I used a template from my ebook, The Mark Making Starter Kit, to create a white pattern on this vellum page. Templates are a fun way to practice making marks and create complex patterns. Perfect for days when you want to doodle but don’t know what to draw. 💕 Get the Mark Making Starter Kit at the link in my bio. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

Just felt like scribbling today! I like to make smooth loopy scribbles. I used fine tip acrylic markers and layered a few different colors to add a subtle pattern to this page. The page was a laser print out I had used for a gel plate transfer. I love how the scribbles show up over the black. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

I’m 20% of the way through my 100 days of mark making patterns! I used acrylic markers to add some gradient color to this book page. It fits in much better with the other colorful pages now. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

I really enjoy drawing reflected patterns like this. I take my time with the first two rows to get comfortable with the pattern, then I get more efficient 😊 This one felt a little plain, so I went back and added the dots at the end. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

Still trying to wrap my head around how this works, but I love this technique! Bonus 😍 — the parchment paper has a mirror image of the same design. 1. Apply paint to parchment (baking) paper 2. Flip parchment over onto pre-painted page 3. Use a brush handle or other tool to press in and make a design 4. Lift the parchment to reveal #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

That was scary! Using such a dark color is way out of my comfort zone. But this was a glossy book page of photo credits (bunch of names) I needed to *mostly* cover up. Now just lit bits of text peeks through where I removed the paint and it has the most amazing texture! #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

This is the best fix for a crazy color page. This failed gel print was too busy. So I painted the whole page white with a nice creamy white acrylic paint, then I scraped into the paint with a color shaper to reveal bits of the color below. Now I have a pretty page of loop-de-loops. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

Nothing relaxes me more than making circular patterns. It works with any shape, but I’m fond of squares that create a cobblestone pattern. I love the intersections where the rings of shapes come together. It creates so much movement on the page. It’s a relaxing pattern to make AND relaxing to look at once it’s finished. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

Another fun way to make marks with a clothespin! This page had some rings in the background that I used as a guide. Again and again, the simplest pages turn out to be my favorites. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

Painting ink on vellum makes it deliciously crinkly. This is one of my favorite shapes, a U-shape painted with a flat brush so the arch is thicker than the sides. I love all the variations of this shape. This U is part of my shape language—the unique set of marks I enjoy making. My ebook, The Mark Making Starter Kit is designed to help you find your favorite marks and develop your shape language. When you find your favorite shapes mark making becomes intuitive. Check it out at the link in my bio. #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking

This was so fun 🤩 Proof that a simple composition and a little pattern can rescue any page. I traced the cookie cutter shapes and then surrounded them with graduated dots. The whole page has starfish vibes now! #100daysofmarkmakingpatterns #the100dayproject #markmaking
